When it came about to choosing the
right soft-starter for an application almost
7000 feet (2100 meters) below ground
level, engineers at the Harmondy Gold
Mine decided on Solcons’ HRVS-DN MV
soft starter.
The unstable power grid made it
very important to eliminate the high inrush
current and excessive start-up torque on
every start. In addition, the ability to softstop these pumps and eliminate damaging
water hammer that was threatening the pipe
joints and valves was critical.
Solcon soft-starters not only softstart and soft-stop critical motors, but also
provide start and stop curves that increase
the life expectancy of both the pumps and
the piping infrastructure. The built-in

provide
comprehensive protection to both the motor
and the soft-starter.
