Great Britain‛s primary interest in the colonies was make them money.
Thus it wanted to control what the colonists did to make sure they
would continue make money in the new world.

When things happened in the new world that caused GB to loose money (French & Indian
War),GB expected the colonists to pay for it via increased taxes and other $-saving demands.

The more discontent the colonists expressed, the more GB tightened controls, the more
angry and discontented the colonists became. Protests increasingly became more organized &
violent & eventually escalated into open rebellion & warfare.
