Well! Did you get out to our 2014 Ski Season Kickoff
last month? Because if you didn't, then you missed
out on not only a really great time, but also the
opportunity to sign up for the trip of your choice!
Because by the time the afternoon was over, very
few of our trips had openings!! The afternoon was a
resounding success, and I do believe that if we had
another 10 openings on all the trips that we could
have filled them. We gave away four $200 trip credits
to four lucky winners, as well as door prizes provided
by Peter Glenn, Ski.com and SportsAmerica. So...if
you were holding out, guess what? You need to act
fast to secure a spot! Here are highlights of two of
the trips with space available:
Copper Mountain, CO, Dec. 26 to Jan 2: New
Year's Eve on the mountain, complete with fireworks,
bands and a great party set up by your trip leaders,
Mike & Donna Torkos. Great condos, located only a
short walk to the American Eagle lift. A tubing night,
dinners, après ski, welcome party. Something for
EVERYONE: couples, singles, families. Imagine
seeing the fireworks at midnight lighting up the sky
over the mountains. I guarantee you one thing: you
WILL NOT see that in Central Florida (and no, Mt.
Dora does not count!).
Park City, Utah, Feb. 22 to Mar 1: our February
FSC Epic Adventure. That's what I call it, because
this isn't your normal ski trip! Why? Well, being an
Ski Trips are great
family
fun!
so book one!
FSC trip, you are there not only with your fellow
Orlando Ski Club members and your illustrious trip
leaders Terri-Lynn and Jill, but you also have the
company of 200 other Florida skiers from all of our
sister clubs in Florida! With arrival party, a themed
FSC party, on-mountain lunches, après events, you
simply cannot go wrong with this trip!! So what the
heck are you waiting for???
And not to be forgotten: last month about 24 of us
went bowling at Aloma Bowling Center, to determine
who would be King of the Keglers. Well, after the
pins had settled and the balls were returned to their
racks, none other than Robin Dibiasio stood atop
Ten Pin Pinnacle with a 200+ game, besting all
others. Congratulations, Robin! We all headed to
Friendly Confines to celebrate Robin's triumph. As
for the rest of us, well, you know, like Cub fans
always say: "Just wait until NEXT year!"
You don't have to ski
to enjoy a ski trip!
Lastly, because I hate to be a kill joy, we do have a
bit of By-Law business at our September trip sales
meeting, which is Wednesday, Sep. 11 at
Dubsdread in the Florida Room from 6pm to 8pm.
We will take 15 minutes to address some changes to
the By-Laws which were voted on by the Board of
Directors: 1) add a clause wherein the OSC
indemnifies the Board members (this is standard with
most organizations, but we have never had it); 2)
change the By-Laws to be gender neutral; 3) change
the minimum required number of Board meetings
from 6 per year to 4. We will have a summary of the
changes at the door when you come in next week.
And please, do come! We will have all trips on
display with trip leaders ready to take either your
deposit, or add your name to their wait lists. In
addition, we do have two, $100 trip credits to give
away. You don't want to miss a chance at those, so I
know I'll see you there!!
