Analog to Digital
Charter will be in to install digital boxes
in all apartments and guest rooms. We
will need access to all apartments October 16th from 8am-5pm. We will begin
in wing 100 then 200, 300 and 400. Staff
will accompany the techs.
Storage cages in the garage:
Scott and Randy are sorting out storage
cages in the garage. Some are well
marked but we have a few that have no
number on them. There should be one
cage assigned per apartment. Please stop
in the office and let me know your cage is
numbered correctly and I can check your
name off the list. Janet
Health News 2014!
Exercise Regularly. With your
Doctor’s okay, try to engage in regular aerobic workouts (30 minutes or
more at least five days a week). Aerobic exercise is linked to lower blood
pressure and improved brain blood
flow.
Be sure to control your weight; manage your blood pressure, stay physically active and eat a well balanced
low-fat diet. A healthy lifestyle is one
important way to maximize blood vessel health. This is just as essential
for protecting mental acuity as it is
for avoiding a heart attack.
And remember, don’t use complimentary health approaches as a reason to
postpone seeing a health care provider about memory loss. Treatable
conditions, such as depression, bad
reactions to medication, or thyroid,
liver or kidney problems, can impair
memory.
Lake Forest would like to
welcome Mary Beal ! We
are so happy to have her
here with us. When you see
her in the dining
room, be sure to say
Hello!

Friendship Committee Notes
October, the 10th month of the year. Why? An octopus has eight arms, an
octagon has eight sides, and an octogenarian is someone in their 80’s. So
October should be the 8th month, right?
Well, in the ancient Roman calendar it was the 8th month. For some reason
the name never changed.
How about we call this month Tenober?
My sister Cindy and Dave, her husband, were here for a visit, and we had a great time getting caught up in family news. They come every fall; they enjoy being here at Lake Forest.
They like the people, the food and the surroundings. Thanks to you all for being so friendly to
my guests
October is Breast Awareness Month. Wear pink!
Stupid (and true) thief stories.
Seems an Arkansas guy wanted some beer pretty badly. He decided that he'd just throw a
cinder block through a liquor store window, grab some booze and run. So he lifted the cinder
block and heaved it over his head at the window. The cinder block bounced back and hit the
would-be-thief on the head, knocking him unconscious. The liquor store window was made of
Plexiglas. The whole event was caught on videotape.
A female shopper exited a New York convenience store; a man grabbed her purse and ran.
The clerk called 911 immediately, and the woman was able to give them a detailed description
of the snatcher.
Within minutes, the police apprehended him. They put him in the car and drove back to the
store. The thief was then taken out of the car and told to stand there for a positive ID. To
which he replied, "Yes officer, that's her. That's the lady I stole the purse from.
Safety tip of the week - If you are attacked by clowns, go for the juggler first
Happy Tenober to all! Mary Lue
