From nothingness came chaos, from chaos came air and water, from
air and water came life! Then, rising majestically from the darkness,
came Gaia, Mother Earth, a beacon of warmth and light.


recognise that light from the sun can be dangerous and that there are ways to protect their
eyes

object and notice that light is reflected from surfaces
Discover a fantastical world full of mythical creatures and legendary
heroes. Poseidon, Apollo, Artemis and Zeus reign almighty from

Learning across the wider Curriculum
History: We will be looking at Ancient Greece and will be placing events in chronological order as
well as looking at the key features of traditional Greek Myths. We will also examine the legacy the
Greeks have left us through Democracy, war and the Olympic Games
Learning in English
Reading
This half-term we will be reading a selection of Greek Myths! We will predict what will happen in the
stories and what the characters we do next. We will be focusing on retrieving information from nonfiction texts using the structure to help us find the answer to questions quickly. We will be looking at
how we can find the meaning of unknown words by exploring clues in the text.
Writing
This half term we will be creating a non-chronological report based on mythical creatures! We will
learn to set out our reports correctly using headings, subheadings and captions. We will also create
a story based on a popular Greek myth. In the story, we will include conjunctions, speech marks and
a range of punctuation. Over the course of the term we will be continually honing our editing skills to
ensure our work is the best it possibly can be.
DT: We will design and construct our own puppets and put on an Ancient Greek themed performance using a variety of tools and materials. We will evaluate the effectiveness of our finished
products to ensure they are fit for purpose and see if they require improvements.
Computing: To coincide with Safer Internet Day on February 7th our focus will be on acceptable
behaviour and practice online, and how to report concerns of content and contact.
PE: Rugby will be the focus of outdoor PE sessions in which pupils will develop handling skills, ball
work and movement.
RE: We will be exploring Buddhism, focusing particularly on Buddhist places of worship.
