SEASONAL ROTATING TAP
MKT HALF ACRE, DAISY CUTTER PALE ALE 5.2% ABV
U.S.A. It could be local, from the midwest, or even the coasts. One
thing we know: it’ll be American, craft, and delicious! Your server
or bartender has the details.
Chicago, Illinois. A West Coast Pale Ale in style, made just down the
block --- chock-full of dark aromatic hops. This Chicago staple says,
“Welcome to my city. Enjoy.” Smart beer.
7
DESCHUTES, FRESH SQUEEZED IPA 6.4% ABV
Bend, Oregon. The folks over in Oregon loved this IPA so much in the
brewery they decided to share with you. Part of their Bond Street
Series, this super citrus-y IPA will leave you satisfied from the first
whiff til the last drop. That's right, I said whiff...it's absolutely OK to
smell a beer when it's this good. And even more OK to drink it.
LAGUNITAS ROTATING TAP
ALLAGASH, WHITE WHEAT ALE 5% ABV
Portland, Maine. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. This beer from Allagash
is quite simply one of the most perfect beers on the market. It’s got
coriander. It’s got Curacao orange peel. It’s fruity. It’s refreshing. It’s
what you want.
CRISPIN, ORIGINAL CIDER HARD CIDER 5% ABV
9
VIRTUE, MICHIGAN BRUT HARD CIDER 6.7% ABV
Fennville, Michigan. Lakes have coasts too. And coastal regions are
perfect for apple orchards. A barrel aged cider made from Michigan
apples--clean and crisp up front, yeasty bite with a long, dry, lightly
oaky finish.
SCHLITZ, LAGER 4.5% ABV
Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In the wake of the Great Chicago Fire in
1871, Schlitz brewery sent hundreds of barrels of beer to support
Chicago. That’s one heckuva neighbor. We’re in.
4
5 RABBIT, GRINGOLANDIA SUPER PILS PILSNER 7.2% ABV 7
Bedford Park, Illinois. This heavenly nectar has everything that you
love about classic European pilsners, just with more of it (including
booze). Perfectly balanced and incredibly drinkable, there's almost
always a sixer of these in my fridge.
SIERRA NEVADA KELLERWEISS 4.8% ABV
6
Chico, California. Inspired by traditional Bavarian techniques,
Kellerweis is a true artisan experience. This beer is classic old-school,
brewed in open fermentation. What you get is a hazy wheat ale
with notes of spicy clove and banana bread. This beer is untamed,
raw and alive.
WHINER, LE TUB WILD FARMHOUSE ALE 6.6% ABV
8
Chicago, Illinois. If you’re like me, then you love a good shower beer.
You know, drinking a beer while you shower. Trust me, it’s a thing.
Well, this Le Tub is a barrel-aged saison with low hop bitterness and
a tinge of funk from the wild yeast. Brewed at the PLANT right here in
Chicago with a mission to focus on the environment by brewing
sustainably and maximizing recycled goods.
OFF COLOR, APEX PREDATOR FARMHOUSE ALE 6.8% ABV 7
Chicago, Illinois. You’re your own (wo)man. You make your own
decisions. You’re the head of your pride. So why not reward yourself
with a beer whose wild nature suits your own? Natural sugars, grains,
and yeasts are free to roam in this farmhouse ale, finished by a
dry-hopped, fruity goodness. Be the king of your concrete jungle, and
let yourself go.
TWO BROTHERS, PRAIRIE PATH GOLDEN ALE 5.1% ABV
6
Warrenville, Illinois. How can it be, it’s gluten free? Who cares,
come on, this beer is simply delicious. The brothers have done it
again! Citrus fruit aroma, spicy hop and a little yeast flavor imparted.
Finishes with a touch of sweetness.
6
Chicago, Illinois. This is what beer with a purpose tastes like. Doug Hurst,
master brewer, was desperate to find a quality lager in the traditional
German style. So, he made one himself. With spicy hop flavors and
bitterness you expect in a Pilsner, but amped up with malt bill for balance
and mouth-feel. This beer has all the trademark characteristics of German
beer, but executed in the masterful hands of a Chicagoan.
Bend, Oregon. We all know not to lick the frozen metal of the ski lift
as it carries you up the slopes. Unlike its namesake, Red Chair is a
big Pale Ale without the overwhelming hoppiness of an IPA.
Well-balanced by European and domestic malts, this pale ale has a
smooth complex, copper color. Warm up with this cold brew and
dream of fresh powder on the mountaintops.
6.5
DARK HORSE AMBER ALE 5.5% ABV
7
BELL’S, TWO HEARTED AMERICAN IPA 7% ABV
Comstock, Michigan. 100% American hops and malts in this Michigan
favorite. Named after the Two Hearted River in Michigan’s Upper
Peninsula, this wonderfully balanced beer has notes of grapefruit and
pine with a nice malty finish. We thank the good folks in the UP for
this one.
8
Marshall, Michigan. Looks can be deceiving, as they say. What do
we see with this offering from Dark Horse? We see the typical
beautiful copper color of an amber ale. We also have the same
smooth mouth feel and medium body. But, Dark Horse gives us a
nice surprise by adding a Belgian-style yeast strain. What we wind
up with is a real American beer with a bit of a wink at the masters.
REVOLUTION, ANTI-HERO IPA 6.5% ABV
Chicago, Illinois. Hey, “hero” is still in the title, isn’t it? Drink up the
American hop assault and rise to your better nature. This classic staple
of a local brewery offers a crisp bitterness that packs a super punch of
floral and citrus aromas.
6
SOLEMN OATH, SNAGGLETOOTH BANDANA IPA 5% ABV
7
HALF ACRE, NAVAJA DOUBLE IPA 9.5% ABV
10
Naperville, Illinois. A massive grapefruit, pineapple, and super-ripe
mango aromatic burst out of this medium-bodied IPA. Assertive bitterness
is balanced by a subtle malt sweetness and more citrusy fun. This beer is
for your inner punk rocker.
Chicago, Illinois. Half Acre’s only Double IPA. This beer only comes
around a couple times a year. Navaja is somewhat heavy on the malt
sweetness, but is balanced by a barrage of piney/dank hops. It is
deceptively boozy. So, beware, because one too many and you’ll be
seeing double.
LEFT HAND MILK STOUT 6% ABV
7.5
Longmont, Colorado. Dark & delicious, America’s great milk stout will
change your life. Well…, at least, it’ll make you feel better about the
cold, wintry months. Milk Stout Nitro cascades beautifully, building a
tight, thick head like hard whipped cream. The aroma is reminiscent of
your mother’s kitchen in the morning with brown sugar and vanilla cream,
with hints of roasted coffee. Sip on the bliss of this milk chocolate-y
goodness. And savor the flavor as the thick, creamy head lingers on
your upper lip.
MOODY TONGUE, CHOCOLATE CHURRO PORTER
BALTIC PORTER 7% ABV
11
FOUNDER’S, BREAKFAST STOUT
DOUBLE IMPERIAL STOUT 8.3% ABV
10
NEW HOLLAND, DRAGON’S MILK
6 BOURBON BARREL STOUT 11% ABV
11
GOOSE ISLAND, MATILDA BELGIAN-STYLE PALE ALE 7% ABV 10
Chicago, Illinois. My pal, Founder Greg Hall, makes lots of beer, but
this one takes the cake. Why? First, it has a cool name in honor of
the Countess Matilda who founded a monastery a long time ago in a
land far away. Second, it’s fermented with the wild yeast
brettanomyces and pours a golden sunrise color with dried fruit and
clove aromas, a spicy yeast flavor, and a satisfying dry finish.
LAGUNITAS, 12TH OF NEVER AMERICAN PALE ALE 5.5% ABV 6
Petaluma, California. Never say never, I think, is the expression.
Lagunitas’ first ever canned ale. A hop-forward beer brewed with the
intent of extreme drinkability and “paleness.” Light, but still medium
body, with bright citrus and huge tropical fruit flavors.
REVOLUTION, FIST CITY PALE ALE 5.5% ABV
METROPOLITAN, FLYWHEEL PILSNER BIER 5% ABV
6.5 DESCHUTES, RED CHAIR NORTHWESTERN PALE ALE 6.2% ABV
Minneapolis, Minnesota. Classically styled, but an untraditional hard
cider. Using fresh-pressed apple juice, this original produces a fresh,
crisp cider for your taste buds to enjoy.
MKT
Petaluma, California. West Coast by birth, and smart enough to adopt
the Midwest as its second home. Lagunitas has got the brains to brew
the beers. Ask your server or bartender about this week’s offering.
Chicago, Illinois. A touch of red wheat and an array of citrus-forward
and herbal hops make Fist City supremely interesting, yet very
drinkable. I will gladly raise my fist toward the sky to honor this great
craft brew.
JOLLY PUMPKIN, ORO DE CALABAZA BIER DE GARDE 8% ABV 12
Ann Arbor, Michigan. I know what you’re thinking...”Pumpkin?
Halloween is sooo over!” But don’t be fooled. There is nothing
pumpkin about this highly-regarded masterpiece. Brewed in the
Franco-Belgian tradition of strong golden ales, this “golden” beauty
(‘oro’ is Spanish for ‘gold’) is spicy and peppery with a gentle hop
bouquet and beguiling influence of wild yeast.
Chicago, Illinois. Big flavors do not have to be synonymous with
one-and-done beers. In this medium-bodied Baltic Porter there is a
combination of specialty malts and caramel to capture rich flavors like
chocolate, caramel and vanilla alongside a lager yeast that brings a
clean finish. Moody Tongue is a chef-driven (just like us!) brewery that is
focused on using ingredients that are not only interesting but also of the
utmost quality.
Grand Rapids, Michigan. Rated a near perfect score of 99 on Beer
Advocate – this imperial stout is brewed with flaked oat, bitter chocolate
as well as touches of Kona and Sumatra coffee. This is a coffee lover’s
beer if ever there was one. The aroma of a fine cup of java will wake
you up as if there were coffee crystals in your cup.
Holland, Michigan. Our good neighbors to the east have done it again.
Right here, we’ve got a huge, dark, roasty stout that is barrel-aged and
ultra boozy. Slow, lingering heat from the booze, very little hop presence,
plus vanilla, coconut, and char notes from roasted malts and bourbon
barrel aging all come together in a well-executed liquid treat. That’s
science. Mmm, I love science.
11
EVIL TWIN, FREUDIAN SLIP BARLEYWINE 10.3% ABV
Two Roads, Connecticut. Pull up a couch and tell us all your problems.
Just kidding. Pull up a chair and tell us how great your mother is. True to
style, this beer is perceived sweet, sometimes bittersweet. Extraordinarily
complex fruit and hop flavors. This American Barleywine is intense and
definitely requires some reflection.
