PEPPER is an acronym for Public Education
Partners and Promoters. The Northeastern
Education association presents these awards
each year to parents and community members that have volunteered in our schools
and classrooms throughout the year. They
help with kid writing, Study Island testing, Junior Achievement, teaching about fire
safety...the list goes on and on! Each of these
special people give of their time, talents, and
resources in many other ways. Our children and teachers are so blessed to have
them in our lives!
LLoyd Douglas, high school social studies teacher, and Matt Pomraning, York Haven kindergarten teacher, received
the Outstanding Educator Award from Phi Delta Kappa on Thursday evening. Both individuals were nominated by the
principals because of their dedication to the students they serve. Congratulations to these two educators and to every
district member that makes the success of our students the top priority.
Northeastern High School would like to honor any author that lives in Northeastern
School District. We are hosting a "Night with the Authors" on Monday, May 18, from 6-8
p.m. in the NHS Library. This event will be open to the public. If you have had a book or
article published and would like to participate, we would love to honor you. If you cannot
attend but would be willing to provide a copy of your published work, we will display it at
this event. You may also sell/sign books at this event. Please consider joining us as we
honor our talented Northeastern authors. Light refreshments will be provided. Please
contact Joyce Shaw at [email protected] or Deb Martin at [email protected] if
you would like to participate as an author.

Yesterday's concert was proof to me that dedicated professionals like yourselves with
the support of a good administration can grow a program the district can be proud of.
The youth were well dressed, organized and serious about their playing . I’m not a music expert, but the breath and depth of the offering seemed to me to be one that many
schools would not attempt. Thank you for challenging our students. As is often the
case, they rose to our expectations. Please tell them how proud we are of them.
Sincerely, John Krueger
BOBCATS CARE
Shallow Brook students raised a whooping
300,000 pennies for a grand total of $3000.00,
which put them in the top 25 schools who
raised money!! Way to go SB Bobcats!!
Featuring 3rd grade Strings and Kindergarten and 1st Grade singers.
SFI Bobcats and community members showed their generous spirit by taking part in the Deb's MS Mission
5K on Thursday! We had over 130 finishers and raised almost $1300 for a the MS Society. Way to go, Bobcats!
I wanted to thank you all and Northeastern
School District for this past year’s opportunity
for Kalie to participate in the Future Leader’s
of York program.
Kalie thoroughly enjoyed the program and it is
truly a great learning opportunity that FLY
provides for our youth of York County.
Kalie was honored to represent NHS and
really was able to learn a lot about enhancing
her leadership skills.
It is an expense for our school district that I
believe is well worth the investment.
The program helps the students to truly understand the many aspects of our York Community and what it takes to continue the efforts to better our County.
Why Did Northeastern School District receive this Grant?
Northeastern School District was one of 3 school districts in the state of Pennsylvania chosen to participate
in the Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative.
Northeastern School District has been recognized for
the processes that have been put into place through the
years to support children and families at all levels. As
the first district in York County to hire a school social
worker (in 1999), we have sought out and welcomed
community partnerships and worked to integrate human service agencies into the school system for many
years.
Our community is unique and special in the way we
mobilize to meet the needs of individuals, families, organizations and our school system and that is being
recognized and rewarded with these grant dollars.
Throughout this grant process, we will continue to increase and/or enhance programs aimed at emotional,
behavioral, and mental health of students and families.
A variety of federal and state systems are looking at our district and working to learn with us. Some of the
excellent procedures that we have had in place will be documented to share with other communities. We will
also be working with many partners to further develop programming that will serve people in our community
from birth through death. This is an outstanding honor for our entire community.
Congratulations Northeastern!!!!
