Style and Social Media Guide for the Joint ITE/CITE 2017 Annual Meeting and Exhibit This style guide has been created to provide the standard operating practices relating to the Joint ITE/CITE 2017 Annual Meeting and Exhibit to ensure consistent and proper usage. Consistent and proper usage is important to the branding of these conferences. This style guide is meant to provide useful information and is not necessarily exhaustive. Questions can be referred to Pam Goodell, Marketing Senior Director ([email protected]) Conference Title Logo Usage Color Scheme Space Clearance What do the Different Formats Mean and When You Should Use Them Social Media and Website Links Conference Title The correct conference title is the Joint ITE/CITE 2017 Annual Meeting and Exhibit. The full title should be used in all communications (flyers, articles, email, publications, etc) with ITE members, other transportation professionals, and the general public. This ensures clear, consistent messaging and branding and avoids confusion with other conferences. The short-hand title for this meeting is #ITEToronto2017. This is also the Twitter hashtag. Logo Usage Standard Logo. This is the preferred version of the logo. The colors for this logo are outlined below. Do not reproduce in colors other than those specified or place on a patterned background that impairs readability. Color Scheme The color scheme for the red color in the logo is provided if you are looking to produce an item, document, or publication that compliments the logo. Red CMYK PMS RGB Hex C1 M100 Y92 K0 032 R252, G0, B20 #FC0014 Minimum Size It is recommended that the logo be no smaller than 225 pixels (horizontal) x 187 pixels (vertical) or 2” x 2” to insure readability. Space Clearance Always maintain clear space around the conference logo to protect it from distracting graphics or typography. What Do the Different Formats Mean and When Should You Use Them The logos were provided in the following formats: eps; jpeg; png; psd; and tiff. Below is a brief explanation of which formats should be used in what instances and why: EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) Explanation: EPS files require specific software application to read, such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and QuarkXpress. EPS files can be used when requests are made for vector files. EPS files work best for print houses and graphic designers. How/When to Use: Ideal format to provide to graphic designers and printers. For general purposes, it is better to send another format such as jpg, tif, or png to insure the person receiving the file can open it. JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) Explanation: JPG files are best used to transmit photos. Unlike many other formats, jpg files can suffer from degradation of image quality. In some instances, for example, increasing the size of a JPEG image can result in a more blurry image. JPEG images also do not offer transparency (i.e., when put against a color background, a white border shows up). How/When to Use: Can be used to insert a logo into a document or onto a website with a white background; other formats may be better, depending on need. PNG (Portable Network Graphics) Explanation: This format has become an alternative to GIF. Unlike JPEG, when inserted into a color background, the border is transparent. PNG is not a good format for print production as the format does not support CMYK color space and there can be no color separation at all. How/When to Use: Use to insert a logo into a document particularly against a non-white background. Do not send for printing or design usage. PSD (Photoshop Document) As the name implies, this is the default format for Adobe Photoshop. For the most part, this file format will not be used except with Photoshop software. TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) A file format that works with both Mac and PC platforms and is a widely used format. Like the PNG format, the background is transparent. The drawback to this file format is that no system can decode all TIFF file versions so the file can be unpredictable. How/When to Use: Not optimal for electronic transmission. Can be used on non-white background. Social Media and Website Links Conference Website: ite.org/annualmeeting. Below is a listing of subpage URLs that may be helpful references.
