DIABLO FUTBOL CLUB USSDA Program U S S D A O v e r v i e w Following a comprehensive review of elite player development in the United States and around the world, U.S. Soccer created the Development Academy in 2007 to provide education, resources and support to impact everyday club environments that will develop world-class players. The Academy is a partnership between U.S. Soccer and the top youth clubs around the country to provide the best youth players in the U.S. with an everyday environment designed to produce the next generation of world-class National Team players. The Academy’s programming philosophy is based on increased training, less total games and more competitive games. The Academy also connects National Team coaches directly with the Academy clubs to develop and identify players and coaches for future Youth National Teams. Each Academy team is evaluated by a member of the Men’s Scouting Network at least 10 times each year and each Academy club receives two (2) formal evaluations that provide feedback in 100 categories each year from U.S. Soccer Technical Staff. This creates a format that is similar to those followed by the elite soccer playing nations around the world as the Development Academy and U.S. Soccer continue their goal of closing the performance gap with the top soccer nations. Moving to a 10-month season allows players to train together three or four times per week and play meaningful games on the weekend nearly year-round. Fewer games and an extended season will allow for the addition of a substantial number of extra training sessions, which are the primary vehicle for player development. The 10-month season allows for a greater opportunity to institute style of play and implement a system according to U.S. Soccer's Curriculum, as well as build team chemistry. It also gives teams increased opportunities for younger kids in their club to "play up" against older players in both training and matches, thereby accelerating their development. 2016-17 CALENDAR OF EVENTS CYCLE TRAININGS PLAYING LEAGUE & EVENTS Pre-Season Spring (March-August) 3-4 x Week NorCal Spring League & Events Club Vacation: June Cycle I Fall Season (Sept-Nov) 3-4 x Week USSDA League Games USSDA Regional Showcase (Nov) Cycle II Winter Season (Dec-Feb) 3-4 x Week Futsal League Games USSDA Futsal Showcase (Jan) Cycle III Spring Season (Feb-June) 3-4 x Week USSDA League Games USSDA National Showcase (June) DFC USSDA Coaching Staff Richard Weiszmann: USSDA Head Coach & Technical Director • Coaching Education: USSF “A” License, USSF Youth National Course • Coaching Experience: DFC Boys Director, DFC U23 & U20 NPL/Super Y-League Head Coach, Director of Super Y-League, Super Y-League Regional Scout, Super Y-League ODP National Camp Staff Coach • Playing Experience: MLS - New England Revolution, NCAA - UC Berkeley Brian Voltattorni: USSDA Staff Coach • Coaching Education: USSF “B” License Candidate, NSCAA Premier Diploma, Fran Hoek DOC Diploma, NSCAA DOC Diploma, ACF Fiorentina Advanced Coaching Course Diploma, California Single Subject Credential - Kinesiology. • Coaching Experience: DFC Director of Youth & Player Development, DFC NPL & NorCal Coach, USSDA Technical Director, NorCal Premier PDP Staff Coach, De La Salle High School Head Coach • Playing Experience: NCAA - Saint Mary’s College Daniel Rednic: USSDA Staff Coach • Coaching Education: USSF “B” License Candidate, UEFA “B” License, UEFA “A” License • Coaching Experience: DFC NorCal Coach, FC Baia Mare-Romania • Playing Experience: Romania Youth National Team, La Liga Romania: FC Baia Mare, MTK Hungaria FC, Dinamo Bucuresti, UEFA Champions League, Scored Goal in UEFA Champions League.
