the mutiny plan. She is alone for some time, but she is later accepted into
the crew, after passing through a test. She then works with the crew
against the captain. She becomes part of the mutiny, and she later
receives hatred from Captain Jaggery. Although she seems to be a kind,
young lady, the Captain accuses her as a murder after he does the
crime. At first, she is betrayed by the crew, but after she accidently killed
the captain, she gains respect from the crew and receives the rank of
captain of the Seahawk.

Captain Jaggery, who is the captain of the Seahawk, is a character who is
at first veiled, and comes out as a bad person who is feared by many
sailors. However, Captain Jaggery seems as a very kind and nice
gentleman at the start of the story when he comes out. Charlotte likes
him, but later hates him like the other crew members after knowing his
true personality. He is very cruel to his crew, and even accuses Charlotte
for his own crime. He also tries to kill her, but while he tries to, he kills
himself by falling of the boat. For a quote, “ From his fine coat, from his
tall beaver hat, from his glossy black boots, from his clean, chiseled
countence, from the dignified way he carried himself, I knew at oncewithout having to be told-that this man must be Captain Jaggery. And heI saw it in a glance-was a gentlemen.”
Seahawk
The Seahawk is the vessel that the crew and Charlotte ride on their
voyage. Their is a picture of the boat at the end of the book, but their is
not much information of the boat itself in the book. It is a very big boat.
For it’s quote, “ Briefly, the seahawk was that is known as a brig, a twomasted ship, perhaps seen hundred tons in wieght, 107 feet stern to bow,
130 feet deck to mainmast cap.”

his quote, “ Miss Doyle, in my world, judgments as to rights and wrongs
are left to my Creator, not to children. Now, be so good as to board the
Seahawk. At once!”
Zachariah
He is the first member of the crew that becomes friends with Charlotte,
and he gives Charlotte a dagger, saying that the boat will be dangerous.
Zachariah is a very kind black man, and he cares very much about
Charlotte. For a quote about him, “ And wondering of you might not like a
but of tea. I have my own special store, and I’m prepared to offer some
more, miss” He later helps Charlotte out when she is accused of murder,
and this proves that he is a very good man at heart.
