Bathroom cladding can be glued directly to the wall or on timber battons. Look at each wall
separately.
A) Screws
If the wall is relatively flat and in good condition you can glue directly to the wall. Nails or staples
will also help.
B) Nails or Staples
If the wall is in poor condition and/or not flat, it may be better to fit timber battons to the wall first.
C) Decorating Glue
Battons should be screwed to the wall horizontally at 40cm intervals. Cladding can then be glued/
screwed/nailed or stapled where it meets the batton. Battons should always be installed perpendicular to the intended direction of the cladding panels.

Decide where will be best to start
For best results work from left to right installing panels with the groove to the left and the tongue
to the right.
Ensure that you will not be left with a thin cutting at the opposite end of the wall before you
fix any panels (remember that each panel is 25cm wide). Install a corner strip of your choice if
you are using corner trims (see corners without trims below for alternative). The cladding panel
will slot into the corner trim (be sure to slot the groove side of the panel into the trim leaving the
tongue side ready for the next panel). Straighten the panel with a spirit level and fix into place.
Remember to apply adhesive to the back when you are ready to go. If using adhesive it is still
advisable to pin or staple into place while the adhesive is setting. Pins/staples/screws should be
fitted into the tongue of each panel before the next panel is slotted into place (See below).

Continue to the end of the wall ensuring that you install another corner trim with the last panel.
The last panel may need to be cut to size. Measure the size required and cut down the length of
the panel. Remember that you can cut a little shorter as the corner strip will hide the edge.
A) Screws
For best results you should remove any bathroom fittings and fixtures before installation and re-fit
after installation of your cladding. In some instances this may not be practical so you will need to
cut panels accordingly as you progress with installation.
B) Nails or Staples
C) Decorating Glue
Corners without trims
It is possible to install panels without corner trims. However, this will require silicone adhesive
and a higher level of DIY skill. When fitting the perpendicular panel you will need to cut off the
groove edge. Using a DIY knife, cut the back skin of the panel 10mm shorter, remove any vertical
fins if necessary. The edge of the panel into the corner should now be just the surface skin of the
cladding which will curve into the corner when pressure is applied.
Silicone should be applied to the back edge of the 10mm strip. Push into place an apply fixings
in the usual way. Be sure to clean off any excess silicone as you go.

Trim types
A) COVING - takes all the effort out of those wall/ceiling junctures and looks stylish.
B) INFILL STRIPS - comes in chrome and gold and can be used horizontally or vertically. Slots
between panels to give a 5mm coloured stripe between panels. Works particularly well on
ceilings to give a paneled effect.

with a chrome effect.

E) END CAP TRIM - can be used to finish your cladding if only decorating part of a wall. It can
also be used horizontally if you are only cladding part way up the wall (as a splashback behind a
sink for example). Also used if your wall has a natural/flush edge (for example, a wall that ends at
a doorway without a frame).

Maintenance
Your bathroom cladding requires very little maintenance. Use a lint free cloth with warm water
and a small amount of detergent to wipe down your cladding. No abrasives.
