tests independently.

Custom Text to Speech Voices
Reads text aloud, including websites and PDF Files, with dual
highlighting using custom, natural sounding male and female
voices developed especially for Texthelp. Boosts reading
comprehension and lets writers listen to their written work.
Integration with Microsoft Word for Mac
Integrated with Microsoft Word for Mac 2008, with the
following literacy support tools available: Read aloud with

Read aloud web content with highlighting. The reader simply
hovers their mouse over the text and it is read aloud with
high quality voices. The words are highlighted as the text is

available when reading the web, including the Study Skills

Online Fact Mapper
The graphic organizer tool maps information on screen, perfect
for visual learners. Students can use this feature when
brainstorming, revising and drafting work. With flexible
customization included, students can write text directly on the
mapped elements, upload images from the image library, add
sticky notes to the map, and export the elements into MS Word.
Fact Finder
Students can retrieve online information in one step. Easily
search for information on translation, dictionary, and general
information websites.
Study Skills Tools
Facilitate active reading, writing, and learning. Students can
highlight and extract text from any document or website to
create study guides, outlines, or to complete assignments.
Online Translator
Translates words from English to Spanish, French, German, and
Italian. This is an ideal tool for ELL students who wish to quickly
check the meaning of an English word in their native language.
Words can also be read aloud in the selected language to
reinforce meaning.
Phonetic Spelling
Analyzes and corrects students’ spelling and returns more
suggestions for common spelling errors. The spelling
dictionary was developed by educators and learning disability
experts to ensure that even the most unusual spelling errors

One Touch Scanning
Paper-based documents can be converted to MS Word, PDF
or HTML at the click of a button using ABBYY FineReader and
the ‘One touch’ scanning tool in Read&Write GOLD. The digital
text can then be read aloud, saved as an MP3 file, or
manipulated as needed.
Mac Calculator
Calculator button provides easy access to the Mac Calculator.
Learns the writer’s style and predicts the word they are typing
and the word they want to use next. Increases accuracy while
reducing key strokes. Based on phonetic flexible writing
routines, Word Prediction returns more suggestions. This helps
individuals build their vocabulary as they compose text using
the prediction tool.
Talking Dictionary
Quick access to a dictionary is essential to expanding
vocabulary and reading comprehension. Users can also create
their own user dictionary definitions. Users can have both
words and definitions read aloud.
Homophone Checker
Identifies ‘like sounding’ words that may cause confusion for
those with learning disabilities. Homophones are color coded
and alternate choices are displayed - including the definition.
Users also have the ability to add to or remove words from the
homophone ignore list.
