My Itinerary
Day1: Depart Canada
Board your overnight flight to Europe (not included).
Day2: Welcome to Paris
Airport transfers depart from Charles de Gaulle Airport for your hotel at 08:30, 11:00 & 13:30. Relax and settle in, or start
exploring this great capital. Later, join Jody and your Tour Director for a Welcome Reception and the opportunity to mingle
and get to know each other over a pleasant evening of dinner and wine.
Day3: Normandy Beaches & Coast
There are poignant reminders of WWII as you drive along some of the beaches of the D-Day landings today. Visit Bernieressur-Mer for a walk along Juno Beach, where on June 6, 1944 the Third Canadian Division landed. Then onto visit Canada’s
remarkable Juno Beach Centre at Courseulles-sur-Mer. Then see the remnants of the artificial port in the bay of Arromanches.
We continue on to Beny-Sur-Mer and visit the Canadian War Cemetery. Then travel to Saint Germain-La-Blanche-Herbe
and view the medieval Abbaye Ardenne where Canadian prisoners of war were executed by the 12th SS Panzer Division.
Overnight in Herouville Saint Clair, 3 nights.
Day4: Bayeux & D-Day Landings
Visit the bunkers and the Rangers’ Memorial at Pointe du Hoc, followed by a few reflective moments at the American Military
Cemetery of St-Laurent near Omaha and German Cemetery in la Cambe. Then travel back in time to an invasion of a different
kind as you visit the Bayeux Tapestry Museum which chronicles the Norman invasion of Britain in 1066.
Day5: The Road to Falaise & Falaise Gap
Today, we take the road to Falaise where we will learn about Canadian operations during the latter stages of the Battle of
Normandy, including Operations Spring, Totalize and Tractable (on which Dr. Perrun has conducted extensive research). We’ll
stop at Point 67 and Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery before visiting Falaise, St. Lambertsur- Dives (where Major
David Currie won the Victoria Cross), Vimoutiers, and Mont Ormel to explore the closing of the Falaise Gap. We also visit the
Museum devoted to the battle.(Mercure Cote de Nacre / Herouville Saint Clair)
Day6: Delightful Honfleur
Visit Merville Battery & Pegasus Bridge before departing for delightful Honfleur where Samuel de Champlain commenced his
historic voyage which led to the founding of Quebec.
Day7: Dieppe Excursion
Today we tour Dieppe, beginning with the Canadian landing sites of the ill-fated raid. Later visit the Memorial Museum, housed
in the Municipal Theatre. Then explore Blue Beach in Puys to view the German gun emplacements situated along the cliff
tops. These guns would be responsible for the many terrible casualties the Canadians would encounter upon landing here.
We will end the day at the Canadian War Cemetery before returning to our hotel.
Day8: Somme Excursion
Today we explore the Somme Battles of 1916, beginning with a visit to the Newfoundland Memorial at Beaumont-Hamel where
the Newfoundland Regiment was virtually wiped out on July 1, 1916. Later, we visit the impressive Franco British Memorial
at Thiepval. After a lunch stop in Albert we visit the Somme Museum, the Canadian Memorial in Courcelette, and Australian
Memorial in Villers-Bretonneux. Overnight in Boves, 2 nights.

Day9: Vimy Ridge
This day of the tour will be dedicated entirely to our participation in the ceremonies commemorating the 100th Anniversary
of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.
Day10: Ypres Battlefields
Today we will see preserved trenches in the Sanctuary Wood Museum and Hill 62. We’ll also visit the Essex Farm bunker where
Guelph, ON native John McCrae composed In Flanders Fields and visit the Flanders Field Museum. The day’s agenda includes
a tour of the Tyne Cot Cemetery and visits to the St. Julien Memorial, the town of Passchendaele and the Canadian Memorial
at Crest Farm. In the evening we will attend the “Last Post” ceremony at the Ypres War Memorial where buglers perform the
famous, haunting tune at 8PM each evening in a moving tribute to those who fell during WWI. Overnight Roeselare, 1 night.
Day11: The Last Hundred Days and Reims
Today we visit the Canadian memorials at Dury and Bourlon Wood, which commemorate Canadian Corps operations to break
the main German defences between Arras and Cambrai in September-October 1918. We then proceed to Reims where the
afternoon is at leisure. Overnight in Reims, 2 nights.
Day12: The Battlefield of Verdun
With our Local Expert we will explore the Verdun Memorial Museum at Fleury, Fort Douaumont and the Ossuary.
Day13: Return to Paris
We return to Paris via the Chemin des Dames, with a visit to the Caverne du Dragon museum to explore the underground
tunnels and galleries used by Allied soldiers during the fighting. En route to Paris we’ll Stop at Compiegne where the Armistice
was signed in November 1918. Tonight enjoy a “Diner de Célébration” served with wine in a typical authentic Parisian bistro.
Day14: Return to Canada
Your Journey comes to an end as you bid farewell to Jody and your Tour Director. After breakfast, departure transfers arrive
at Charles de Gaulle Airport at 8:00 am & 11:00 am.

Prices
Are based on costs, charges, tariffs, rates,
prices, taxes, levies and exchange rates
and other considerations as of the date of
production of this eBrochure. No surcharges
regarding cost or currency fluctuations will be
made to the LAND only price once the deposit
is received. However, this does not extend to
potential fuel surcharges and does not apply
to taxes, charges or levies imposed by any
government or its agencies. Airport taxes are
subject to change. No refund will be made if
costs are reduced. Please note that if the total
tour price increases by more than 10% guests
will have the right to cancel their tour within
7 days of notification of the surcharge without
penalty.
Cancellation
Insight reserves the right to cancel or
reschedule any tour departure in accordance
with operating requirements or when required
by circumstances beyond its reasonable
control. Should this occur, we will offer
you an alternative arrangement. If there is
a difference in cost this will be on your
account. If you do not accept this alternative
arrangement within 7 days, we may treat
this contract as at an end. We will refund
all monies and will then be under no further
liability. Insight is not responsible for any costs
for other travel arrangements affected due to
our cancellations or rescheduling of any tour
departure.
