Director's Message
“I am just a hunk of tin but every day a penny goes in.....shake, shake, rattle, rattle. Tzdekah is fun!"
Teaching children, even from the youngest age that helping others is important sets the stage for a
lifelong commitment to this beautiful value. At preschool the children have the opportunity to
give Tzedakah (charity) daily as part of their morning Tefillot (prayers). To help the children
connect with this Mitzvah, I would like to encourage parents to send in a labeled Ziploc bag of
coins (pennies are fine) to be used at school. Of course teachers always have extra coins for
children who need them, but when the children have their own special money that they have
brought from home they become very excited to share and give to others. Let's work together to
help them embrace Tzedakah.

2-Year-Old/Kidsmart Class
Dear Parents:
Dear Parents,
The weather was beautiful this week and we took
advantage of it, going outside many days to play. Some
days we did activities out on the playground. We used
large magnifying glasses to look for bugs, pretty leaves,
and whatever other interesting things we could find.
We collected leaves and made leaf rubbings, which was
like magic (though the children learned you need to use
the side of a crayon and rub hard with strong muscles to
get results). We created a group mural of Noach's ark
that you can see hanging on the wall outside the
aftercare room with each child's contribution. We baked
a rainbow cake, mixing food coloring to incorporate all
the colors of the rainbow. It was fun to make, looked so
pretty, and was very yummy to eat!
We can't wait to see what's in store for next week.
Shabbat Shalom.

Mendel (looking through magnifying glass): “I see a leaf.”
Morah Amy (MA): “What colors is it?”
Mendel: “Green”
MA: “Any other colors?”
Mendel: “Yellow”
MA: “Good. How about this color?”
Mendel: “Purple”
MA: “Yes, so the leaf is green and yellow and purple.”
Chaya (looking through magnifying glass at Bassie):
Your face is big.
Shalom,
We would like to welcome another little friend to our
Kidsmart, Emma, who speaks French! It is wonderful to hear
different languages in our classroom. Our classroom is
growing, Baruch Hashem!
This week we learned about who is a boy or girl, using Abba
and Imma as examples and it gave the children a sense of
recognition and identity. In our class activity we played a
circle game. We sang a song to identify who is a girl or boy.
For example: The children took turns and we sang “What is
Ella? What is Ella?” And Ella had to answer “I’m a girl…I’m a
girl…!” They had a lot of fun with the game. For a class
project, the children separated pictures of boys and girls and
glued them in the right place.
For our Parsha, we were Avraham’s guests. Avraham loved to
have guests visiting him, with the four sides of his tent open so
he could receive guests, family, and friends. Hashem loved
Avraham because he was very kind and nice to people. We
discussed how we should behave with each other in the class,
to be nice, share toys and help each other, just like Avraham.
Words that we learned:
Yeled= Boy Yalda= Girl Imma= Mom Abba= Dad
Oreach= Guest Ohel= Tent

This week we had a lot of fun playing with Farm animals, wild
animals, and little people. The children practiced identifying
and separating Farm and Wild animals, and People. We also
talked about what kinds of animals we can eat and what we get
from animals. Example: from the chicken we get eggs and
meat; from the Cow, milk, cheese and meat; and people?
Nope, we don’t eat people!!!

3-Year-Old Class
This week we had lots of fun playing with some
animals in our classroom. We talked about
animals that live in the farm and in the jungle. For
the farm animals the children made a cow finger
puppet and for the jungle a tiger puppet/mask.
The children reviewed the colors orange, black and
white. We also enjoyed feeling the soft texture of
the cow we made. While we painted our tiger we
looked at a photo of a real tiger. This gave us the
opportunity to look at real vs pretend.
We also went to Avraham’s tent and learned about
the mitzvah of having guests and nice ways to
make our guests feel welcomed. :) Examples eg.,
bringing a glass of water, asking them to come in
and sit down, etc. The children loved gathering

Pre-K
Another triumphant week in Pre K! We are working
as a team, cleaning up our own classroom, taking out
& putting our lunches away, learning to blow our
own noses and helping our friends without being
asked. We love each other and our understanding the
concept of loving our fellow Jew. Hooray!
Purple Parsha Thursday...Vayeira was our lesson. We
explored Avraham's tent in our classroom (look at
the fireplace) as well as in the preschool. We are
learning the names of animals in English and
Hebrew all week long.
The letter A made an appearance this week. Each
week we will be learning a different letter until we
finish the alphabet.
together in this special tent.
We hope you have a great weekend .
Shabbat Shalom :)

Next week we will be learning the letter B. Show &
share will be on Wednesday. Please search with your
child around your home for one item that begins
with the sound of the letter B. Bring that item in for
show and share. Next week we will also begin to sign
in upon arrival at the sign in center. The children will
be mastering pencil holding, tracing each of the
letters and identifying their name so they can put it
in the appropriate pocket.
Have a good Shabbos.
