A Word From the Leader of the Pack
As I sit and look out my office window today, I do not see the usual sight of students scurrying by in
their Daytona t-shirts. Instead, I see students strolling the campus in what appears to be their pajamas. This is
all part of Daytona’s spirit week! Each day of the week we are celebrating our Daytona pride by having some
fun and wearing different clothes.
Our fall sports season is off to a great start! Soccer began its season last week, and the Coyotes have
brought back consecutive wins. So far we are undefeated, and to that I say “coyote up!” Our participation in
sports and clubs this season is outstanding. We have so many opportunities for students to get involved, and I
want to encourage those who are not yet involved to find something they are interested in.
Daytona is extending itself to the community as well. During the last weekend of October, we had two
booths representing us at the Fall Fun Fair at Rotary Park. Mrs. Martin and the Band/Choir were there doing
face painting and tattoos to show their spirit. The Basketball Club, sponsored by Mrs. Vidovich and Mr. Bohnstedt, hosted a cake walk which was a great success and took home enough money to purchase new uniforms
for the 8th grade basketball team!! Way to go! All this followed an excellent performance from the cheerleaders
and band and choir in the London Bridge Day parade!
I am very proud of our student body and wonderful staff here at Daytona. We are doing some very
wonderful things. Again I encourage all students to find some activity to get involved in and show their school
spirit! It’s not too late to get involved!
The Head Coyote,
Hector F. Fimbres, Principal

Counselor’s Corner
Well Coyote’s, the school year is flying by! I can’t believe we are already through with first quarter and
sailing through the second one! Quarter 2 has started off with a bang! Friday, October 27, 2006 we had a school
wide assembly to celebrate student achievement, both academic and extracurricular. We had students recognized for Student of the Month, STAR Reading Awards, Perfect Attendance, and the top 10% of each grade
level for GPA!
This month we are kicking off the Renaissance program as well! Over 200 membership cards were
given out the first week of November. Renaissance membership is a reward system that focuses on grades, attendance AND behavior! Membership benefits entitle students to special treats at school as well as discounts at
several businesses in the community. So look for further information regarding specific discounts soon!! And remember, if you didn’t make it this quarter, you can always try again!! Keep those grades up!
I am very pleased with the choices our student body is making this year. We have a wonderful group of
students. As we enter into a busy holiday season I hope you remember to take some time to rest, relax and enjoy!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Morton (Yes, it was Guy last quarter!)
