6.2: Solving Linear Systems by Substitution
Steps for solving using Substitution:
1) Get one variable by itself in one equation
2) Substitute the expression from #1 into the other equation and solve for the variable
3) Plug the value back into one of the original equations and solve for the second variable
4) Check solution for both equations!!!
Solve for the system using the substitution method:
1) y = x  4
4x + y = 26

Solve for the system using the substitution method:
2) y = 3x
x + 2y = 7
3) 2x + 3y = 31
4) x = 4y + 5
5) 7x + y = 42
6) 3x  4y = 132
y = x + 7
3x  7y = 10
y = 4x  24
y = 2x

7) y = x + 7
8) y = 2x + 5
9) x = y + 1
10) y = 2x + 4
