Paper Flower Pen

Paper Flower Pen
Alaska Wild Rose
Materials:
3”x5” golden yellow crepe paper
3”x5” light yellow crepe paper
3”x10” pink crepe paper
6” thread or dental floss
white glue
pen or pencil
10” - 20” floral tape
Time: 30 -45 minutes
Skill Level: Intermediate to High
Instructions:
1. Fold golden yellow
crepe paper in thirds
lengthwise. Cut small
slats about half way up
its length ( 1 1/2” ) long.
4. Cut the light yellow
crepe paper in half. Roll
one half into a ball and
place it on the center of
the other half and then
wrap it up with the outer
piece of paper.
7. Accordion fold the 3” x
10” pink crepe paper four
times so you will have five
pieces of petals. Cut the
top into a curved shape by
cutting the corner a little
bit. Do not cut off too
much!
10. Glue the bottom of
the flower petals around
the center of the flower,
gathering the petals as you
go around the stem (see
picture # 9). Make sure the
base of the petals is even
all the way around.
12. Pull each petal
slightly with your fingers
and thumbs to curl the
petals inward a little bit
so they will be shaped
more like flower petals.
3. Roll the
ends of the
paper rods
into small
curly balls.
They become
#2
the stamens.
6. Glue the
stamens around
the center of the
flower. It is alright to overlap
the stamens.
2. Roll each
slat between
your finger
and thumb to
make small
paper rods.

Paper Flower Pen
Chrysanthemum
Materials:
3”x10” golden yellow crepe paper
3”10” light green crepe paper
pen or pencil for flower stem
scissors
white glue
6” thread or dental floss
10” - 20” floral tape
Variation: You may substitute any color crepe papers. Also you may use one or two colors. When choosing two
colors, make sure to use analogous colors, color that are next to each other. It looks more natural that way.
Time: 30 - 45 minutes
Skill Level: Intermediate
Instructions:
1. Accordion fold 3”x10”
golden yellow crepe paper four
times.
Cut small triangle 1/3” or 1/2”
into the paper. Unfold the paper. Do the same to the 3”x10”
light green paper.
3. Place small dots of glue
toward the bottom of the
golden yellow crepe paper
strip. Wrap the strip around
a pen by gathering the folds
of the paper. Turn the pen
slightly so the strip will go
around it. If you don’t gather
the folds of the paper, it will
look like a yellow tube instead
of a flower.
5. Wrap florist tape starting
at the base of the flower. You
can wrap it all the way down
the pen or just half way. The
florist tape is made from waxy
material so pull it slightly as
you wrap the tape diagonally,
overlapping the other layer so
you will get a tight wrap.
2. Roll the ends of each
triangle piece with your
thumb and finger. How
your flower look depends
on how much you roll
the pieces. You can roll
a little ways on the tip of
the triangle, or half way
or roll it all the way to
the cut line.

4. Do the same with the
light green crepe paper.
Put glue dots toward the
bottom strip. Gather the
folds and turn slightly
to go around the pen.
When you are finished,
tie it at the base with a
piece of thread or dental
floss.
Congratulations, you
have finished your
chrysanthemum pen!
