Office of Research & Sponsored Programs Faculty / Academic Staff FORUM Fall 2009 Series Re-evaluating the Long Term Effects of the Vietnam War: A Contemporary Look at the Khe Sanh, Vietnam Battlefield presented by Dr. Joseph Hupy Geography and Anthropology Wednesday Nov. 4, 2009 12:10 - 12:50 p.m. *CETL (OL 1142)* War impacts the environment in many different ways, shapes, and forms. The landscape of southern Indochina was particularly disturbed by events associated with the Second Indochina war, or ‘Vietnam War’. To assess the magnitude of these disturbances, I conducted research on the Khe Sanh battlefield in 2007, and again in 2009. My preliminary findings indicate that the contemporary landscape is shaped more by human land use patterns, rather than the actions associated with the war. Feel free to bring your own lunch.
