War impacts the environment in many different ways, shapes, and forms. The
landscape of southern Indochina was particularly disturbed by events
associated with the Second Indochina war, or ‘Vietnam War’. To assess the
magnitude of these disturbances, I conducted research on the Khe Sanh
battlefield in 2007, and again in 2009. My preliminary findings indicate that the
contemporary landscape is shaped more by human land use patterns, rather
than the actions associated with the war.
