The Top End Far North Queensland The Centre

As a member of a Southern Cross Cultural Exchange program, each participant will be
sharing daily life with a host family, attending school regularly, and joining any host family
holiday excursions. In addition, since most students would have travelled a great distance
to Australia, SCCE Travel would like to give them the optional opportunity to visit one or
two sites unique to Australia with other students and SCCE chaperone.

All SCCE international students on 3, 5, or 10-month programs are eligible to participate in the above
group tours organised by SCCE Travel PL. Each tour centres around a long weekend – four days and
three nights – so a student doesn’t miss much school. Tours are planned with chaperones from SCCE.
Early reservations are recommended. Fully paid bookings are required. Prices are for tours only.
Domestic air or land transport to and from the tour site is not included in the fees listed. Should a
tour be cancelled, the fee will be returned to the student. Tours may be cancelled if minimum
attendance is not booked ahead by the period indicated.
Students should reserve their preferred tour(s) as early as possible by downloading the
SCCE Tour(s) Reservation & Booking Form from www.scce.com.au/about-us/downloads/
and completing it before emailing it with full payment to SCCE Travel PL. Bookings will
only be confirmed on receipt of the completed form via email (with the host family’s signed
approval for student’s participation) to [email protected] as well as the full payment.
Booking confirmation, tour itineraries and further instructions will be sent to you upon receipt of the
booking form and full payment. Where applicable, domestic flights to and from the tour site must be
booked by the student as soon as they receive the booking acknowledgement receipt.
Scale the Top End of the Australian Continent! SCCE’s new four day-three night
tour takes you to the tropical City of Darwin, Litchfield National Park and
Kakadu National Park. Enjoy some of the most spectacular natural landscapes in
the world and experience 40,000 year-old indigenous culture. Get in early with
your booking reservation as there will only be one tour in 2015 to The Top End,
departing at the end of August, so numbers are strictly limited. Go to
www.scce.com.au/about-us/downloads to book your participation.
Cruise the billabong in the Wetlands at “The Top End” and be prepared to be thoroughly
amazed in ‘Crocodile Dundee’ country. Learn about local indigenous culture and how to
throw a traditional spear. Enjoy a swim in a plunge pool at a waterfall in Kakadu National
Park. Savour stunning Aboriginal rock art and 40,000 years of site history, and finish your
walk at the stunning Nadab lookout overlooking the Nadab floodplain and the Arnhem
Escarpment. Camp beneath the stars each night. The trip includes sightseeing Darwin, its
waterfront, East Arm Reserve, and appreciating why this tropical city in the Northern
Territory is now Australia’s bustling gateway into Asia.

Tropical Far North Queensland is a region of amazing wonders including the World
Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef and Daintree National Park. Students will get to
experience the Outer Reef, scenic beauty of the Far North Queensland coast-cumrainforest, learn about ancient Aboriginal culture and travel on the Kuranda
‘Skyrail’ on this four-day, three-night chaperoned tour.
The Great Barrier Reef, the largest living structure on the planet, is about the size in area
of Germany, Italy or Japan. This 2300km coral reef system can be savoured on a day’s
outing on an Outer Reef Cruise as part of the FNQ tour. Students learn about the marine
ecological system, and its fragility, with a marine biologist on-board, and get a close-up
view of the Reef from an underwater observatory and glass-bottomed boat. Snorkelling
equipment and instructions are also provided, as well as teas and lunch. They will also ride
the scenic ‘Skyrail’ into Kuranda and enjoy a “Daintree Dreaming” day in the World
Heritage-listed Daintree National Park to learn about ancient Aboriginal culture. They will
get to create their own Aboriginal art, catch and eat their own land or sea-bush tucker,
and be guided into the Mosman Gorge Rainforest. A swim at a pristine swimming hole in
the rainforest and lunch are also included. Accommodation and meals are at a resort-style
hotel in Cairns.
