● Greatest ruler of the empire was Akbar.

○ Practiced religious toleration.
● During the Mughal Empire the Taj Mahal was
constructed.
Ottoman Empire
● Turkish speaking nomadic people.
● Mehmet II conquered Constantinople in 1453.
● Under Suleiman the empire was at its height.
Janizaries
● Boys from Christian families in the Balkans were turned
over to the state.
● Some became government officials others became part
of the Janizaries.
Safavid Empire
● Located in present day Iran
● It was located between the Mughal and
Ottoman Empires.
Abbas the Great
● 1588-1629
● Accomplishments:
● Centralized the government
● strengthened the military
● Built new capital at Isfahan
