Upon the ending of the Freshman Boys Basketball
season, they’re coming out with a record of 4-12 before their last three games. Their best game of the
season was on January 31st at Lincoln Park High
School against the Lincoln Park Rail-splitters. The
final score to the game was 49-29, Woodhaven of
course! Everyone played and they gave complete defensive effort. Jacob Lemelin, Josh Winger, and Justin Smerigan were the top scorers of the season. Jacob Lemelin even scored 19 points in the LP game.
In the first half of the Lincoln Park game, Woodhaven
scored 18 points. The team was also energized by
the shooting done by Gabe Marcum. Also,
Woodhaven held them to 2 points in the entire 3rd
quarter. Boys basketball is over for Freshman and JV

Jolly Roger and the Pirate Queen
Woodhaven’s Patrick Henry Middle School is presenting a play this spring. The play that they will be presenting is Jolly Roger and the Pirate Queen. The play
tells a story of how proper people become pirates for
more adventure in their lives. They will go searching
for a huge treasure on treasure island, with the help of
their crews. Mr. Kramer is the director of the play, and
there are many 8th and 9th graders acting in the play.
Mr.Kramer and the cast are working very hard to put
on this play for your enjoyment. The play will be held
during school and after. April 9th there will be a dress
rehearsal that anyone can come and see for free.
Then on April 10th during 1st and 2nd hour 8th graders will get to see the show, and April 11th during 1st
and 2nd hour the 9th graders will be able to watch it.
Both with a fee of $3. There will also be performances
on April 10th, 11th, and 12th in the evening for $5 for
each adult, and $2 for students, and seniors. Make
sure you buy your ticket and come see this great play!
Second Tri Fun Hour
Join us for the second trimester fun hour where we get
awarded for positive behavior! Coming up on March
14th the eighth graders will get an hour and after their
hours up its the ninth graders hour. This coming fun
hour will have a few options, you could go to the gym
and see what activities are going on in there and the
most exciting thing is the annual PHMS Idol! PHMS
Idol is just like American Idol but just at our home
school, Patrick Henry. The contestants will have to try
out and if they make the cut they will play live in front
of those who choose to watch and at the end the audience will vote. On the ballot is a list of all of the contestants names and you get to choose the person you
think has the most talent. For some it may be too late
for you to watch them show off their talents, but you
could still ask around and see how everyone did, for
those who haven't gotten any after school detentions
keep up the good work and we can't wait to see you
there! Remember be a good sport and support everyone!
Regionals Competition
This past weekend, the Woodhaven girls cheer
team won a spot at the competition Regionals Competition , a competition at Troy Athens. Regionals is
one step down from States that only four teams get to
compete in from our region. Our cheerleading team
took 11th place out of the 12 places at Regionals.
While they didn’t get to States, it’s still a great
achievement to have participated in Regionals.
2nd Tri Final Exams
Study up boys and girls. Time to over-load on notes,
stay up late to study, eat a great breakfast everyday.
2nd trimester exams are this week Wednesday 3/12Thursday 3/13. 2nd, 3rd, and 5th hour exams are
Wednesday and 1st, 3rd, and 4th hour exams are
Thursday. Some great ways to study for exams are:
Take lots of notes and study them. Have a friend quiz
you on the material. Join a study group to work as a
team to study. Make flashcards with the materials and
an explanation on them. Good luck!
New Technology
Are you tired of hearing people complain about the out dated computers here at Patrick Henry? If so, a genie has
been sent your way! On February 3rd, both Mrs. Callahan,
and Mrs. Williamson’s computer classes received brand
new Microsoft 2013 computers! No more waiting for your
computer to log in, and no more random shut downs! The
Microsoft 2013 computers came equipped with a brand
new keyboard, along with an all new light-weight mouse.
The monitor is rotatable, and easily adjusts to the height of
your choice. Logging in takes just shy of one minute! Computers have yet to come to fill the computer labs in our
school, but we are quite blessed to have two whole classrooms full! Users of the new computers Jacob Bartolotta
and Casey Papp say, “The computers are absolutely brilliant. Since we have to use the computers for all sorts of
things including our prided yearbook and newspaper, the
high definition screens, and updated programs allow us to
see colors and wording more clearly.” These new computers are easy to work with, and great for non-technological
students. Microsoft 2013 computers suit everyone’s needs,
and are such a help in the classroom. These all new
computers have already had a positive impact on our
school, and we cannot wait to see what else the future
brings!
