Proceeds go directly to West Virginia University Children's Hospital on behalf of participating forestry and wood products companies and individuals. WVU Children's Hospital, in Morgantown, WV, provides specialty maternal, infant, and pediatric care for families in West Virginia and the surrounding region. It offers care to high-risk mothers, premature infants, and children with life-threatening conditions. The hospital includes a pediatric and adolescent ward, a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and a suite of labor-delivery-post-partum rooms for the mother and infant. An activity room and teen-room facilitate the rehabilitation of our young patients. The Auction is scheduled for Thursday, October 6, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Newlon’s International Sales, LLC, in Elkins, West Virginia, as part of the Mountain State Forest Festival. Loads of logs and other donated items will be sold at auction under the names of the contributors. Last year, over $90,000 was raised for the hospital with this auction, and over 90 companies and individuals contributed. BBQ Lunch to follow, sponsored by Newlon’s International Sales, LLC. For accepting deliveries of donated products, the log yard at Newlon’s will be open on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 7 AM and 4 PM Wednesday, October 5, 2016 7 AM and 4 PM Following are options for making contributions. For your convenience and in order for appropriate arrangements to be made by the planners, accompanying this letter is a form that we request be used for making a contribution. • A contribution of pulpwood or peelers can be made as a Phantom Load, sold unseen at the auction and delivered by the contributor directly from the logging site to the purchasing mill following the auction. Or, a load of pulpwood or peelers can be delivered the day of the auction, sold on the truck, and delivered to the purchaser later that same day. over º Trees are our renewable resource, but children are our most precious resource. • Deliveries of sawlogs can be made the Tuesday and Wednesday prior to the sale. They will be scaled, graded, and a fair market value determined, unless the contributor provides this information. The products will then be sold at the auction. • Contributions of individual, or less than a full load, of veneer logs, to be picked up at your yard, are being coordinated by: Walt Graham 304-642-9724 John Talbott 304-642-5868 Paul Dohner 717-315-9815 • Arrangements have also been made with Weyerhaeuser Company that will allow contributors to deliver loads of either peelers to Buckhannon or pulpwood to Flatwoods and have the payment made directly to the Load a Load for Kids campaign on behalf of the contributor or have the payment split between the contributor and Log a Load for Kids in any percentage to be determined by the contributor. If either of these options is used, the contributor is asked to contact Mark Shreve at 304-203-5647 immediately after the load is delivered and provide him with a ticket number so the appropriate payments can be made. • If you cannot make a contribution of logs or other roundwood products, please consider a monetary pledge or a donation of another item for the auction. In the past, we've received and sold items such as firewood, rustic fencing, flooring, wood pellets, log coating and equipment, skidder tire chains, WVU sports memorabilia, portable generators, and finished furniture, to name only a few. • Cash contributions are also welcomed.
