7/24/03 – PITTSBURGH BUSINESS TIMES - EVERYBODY’S BIZ - By Patty Tascarella NEW FIRM GETS NOD AT REED SMITH. Reed Smith LLP’s advertising account, formerly serviced out of Washington, D.C., is back with a Pittsburgh agency. Garrison Hughes, a Downtown creative boutique that spun out of Blattner Brunner Inc. is working for the city’s second-largest law firm. “Garrison Hughes has been doing our print ads and videos, and completely reformatted our literature,” said David Egan, Reed Smith’s Chief Marketing Officer. “I love working with them. I think they’re the most creative guys in town.” Mr. Egan’s working relationship with Bill Garrison and David Hughes goes back 20 years. All three were at Ketchum Advertising, which became Egan/St. James, and in 2000 was acquired by Blattner Brunner. Mr. Egan joined Reed Smith in 2001. The size of the account wasn’t revealed but it’s viewed as a plum and most of the city’s large agencies have courted Mr. Egan in hopes of landing work from Reed Smith. “There was another agency with Reed Smith that predated me,” said Mr. Egan. “We’re no longer doing much work with them.”
