Short Answer Questions: • Describe the role of a NFTY NW Regional

Short Answer Questions:
• Describe the role of a NFTY NW Regional Board member and the specific role of the position for which
you are running. Why are you a good fit for this role?
NFTY NW Regional Board members are responsible for writing programs, mixers, and helping to run
events. They contribute their ideas and work towards making NFTY better. Board members are
responsible for setting a good example and teaching others about the values of NFTY. Membership Vice
Presidents are meant to be welcoming to all members, especially new ones. They are also in charge of
communicating with all other MVPs and answering any questions they might have. Regional MVPs
should also write mixers, help plan events, and set a good example for other members. I believe that I am
a good fit for this role because I am willing to put in the necessary work, talk to new people, and make
NFTY better.
• What Jewish values do you think are most important to NFTY NW?
I believe that the values most important to NFTY NW are community and tikkun olam. NFTY NW is
focused on building a strong community of people working together to make a difference in the world.
Because of this social action is very important at all events, as well as building a community and
connecting people.
• Describe the challenges for engaging Jewish teens in this region and how you would ideally handle
these challenges.
One of the challenges in engaging teens is a lack of explanation of what NFTY is and how it works. I will
work to fix this by having all MVPs clearly explain to new members from their temples what NFTY is
and what to expect at events. Another issue is that potential participants don’t hear about events, so I will
work with the MVPs and CVP on reaching out via social media.
• What are the most important character traits of an MVP? How do you demonstrate these traits?
MVPs are outgoing, friendly, and willing to meet new people. They are also devoted to what they are
doing. I think of myself as someone who is outgoing and likes to meet new people. When I am interested
in something, I work my hardest on it and am very passionate.
• What is the purpose of a Mixer? What are some new ideas that you think can help achieve this purpose?
The purpose of a mixer is to help people meet each other, and create stronger bonds between people who
already know each other. As an MVP I want to focus on moving away from name games, actually
creating time for participants to get to know each other and find common interests. I think a mix of silly,
funny games, and activities that include more discussion will keep mixers fun but also engaging.
