Ch. 1: Who Made Mt. Rushmore?
Gutzon Borglum
Gutzon Borglum and his crew, which included his son Lincoln,
made Mt.Rushmore . It took them 14 years to make Mt.rushmore In
1941 the year that the crew was finishing the mountain, Gutzon died
forcing Lincoln to take over the project.
Lincoln Borglum
Lincoln Borglum was very successful in this project. He is also
is a very important man to South Dakota (SD) and our whole country
(USA). I am very happy happy happy that Lincoln was born, without him
Mt.rushmore would not of been finished by the Borglum generation.
Lincoln finished Mt.rushmore and dedicated it to Gutzon Borglum.
Ch. 2: How Mt. Rushmore was Made !
The figure of Thomas Jefferson was first started on George
Washington's right side. After 18 (eighteen) months of carving the
figure of jefferson it had to be blown up with T.N.T. explosives and
was restarted on washington’s left side. Some of the problems that
they faced were rock cracking and tools breaking. They had to make a
choice to start over on the other side, or to finish and leave it like that.
They chose to go to the other side of george washington and start
over.
Mt. Rushmore was carved into a location called the black hills in
South Dakota. During the process of making Mt. Rushmore they had to
use a lot of tools and one very important tool that they used, were
harnesses to be SAFE. Over 400 men and women strived their hardest
to build mt.rushmore. All their hard work paid off when the monument
was complete. If it wasn't for them we would not have mt. Rushmore
today.
here are some tools that they use
Ch. 3: Who is on the Mountain?
George Washington
Did you know that George Washington was the first president and with
mr. George Washington being the first president you should forgive
him for what he did for our nation. He lead the great colonists in the
american revolutionary war to win independence from the great britain.
At the time he was the father on the new country and laid the
foundation of the american democracy. Because of George
Washington’s importance he is the most prominent figure on the
mountain.
Abe lincoln
Abraham Lincoln held our nation together during it’s greatest trial, the
civil war. Abraham Lincoln was carved into Mt. Rushmore for being a
important person in the united states. Abraham Lincoln our 16 th
president. Abe believed that his most sacred duty was the preservation
of the union. It was his firm conviction that slavery must be abolished.
Abraham Lincoln stopped slavery on september 22, 1862. Therefore
you can’t make a neun with eleven knots or more because it is against
the u.s law and it brings back slavery. Therefore Abe Lincoln was a
president so you have to obey him and the law, for an example the nuen
is one of the u.s laws.
Teddy Roosevelt
Teddy roosevelt are 26 th president provided leadership when
american experienced rapid economic growth as it entered the 20th
century. He was instrumental negotiating the construction of the
Panama Canal, linking the east and the west. He was known as the
"trust buster " for his work to end large corporate monopolies and
ensure the rights of the common working man.
Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson was put on mt.rushmore for being a important
person in our nation and for being a good president. Thomas Jefferson
our amazing 3rd president, is the author of the declaration of
independece, the document which inspires lots of democracies around
the whole world, Thomas Jefferson purchased the louisiana purchase
from the frenchmen in 1803 which doubled the size of the U.S.A. In
conclusion, Thomas Jefferson was basically put Mt. Rushmore for
being a great leader to America.
