This year, the Youth Council has gotten off to a great start with the SAT Preparation Workshop
DelegatestotheTexasNAACPStateConvention,FortWorth,
held•in October
at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and the Let’s Move Activities for approximately
50 children
in April. Tonight’s celebration marks our 9th year for the Image Award Ceremony,
Texas
and is one of the Council’s signature events. The purpose of the Image Award is to recognize children•andDelegatestotheNationalConference,LosAngeles,California
youth who have excelled academically, artistically, athletically, and in the area of leadership in school, in the community and religious institutions. Over the years, approximately 900
awards have been made to some of the best and brightest youth the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex
has to offer. The youth are selected for the award by members of the NAACP, educators, pastors
and other adults who work with youth. Youth from Duncanville, Lancaster, Wylie, Garland and
the DFW community receive the award at a formal program which includes performances by
ACT-SO (Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological, Scientific Olympics) Gold Medalists. Adults
interested in nominating
individual youth and youth groups are invited to join us in encouraging
