HOMEWORK FOR KAPA WHA (TEAM 4) WEEK 8 No maths, reading or writing this week everyone. I want you to get down to the beach at some stage (if you can) by the time you get back from the Easter break. I want you to see if you can work out the following: 1: Are the waves you‘re watching constructive or destructive? 2: Tell the person you’re with how you know this. 3: Time the frequency of the waves. Do they fit with what you thought? (You’ll need to be able to recall how often a constructive and destructive wave occurs in 60 seconds.) 4: Have a guess with the adult you’re with at how big (length) the swash is? 5: Look at the waves and have a good guess at the “Wave Height”. You’ll have to tell the adult you’re with how you measure wave height. 6. See if you can find out the Wave Period. Remember what this is? 7: Tell the adult you’re with how big you think the fetch was that created these waves and explain why you think that. 8: Have a look on the beach to see if you can see signs of destructive waves having been there recently. What do you think might be a good indicator if this? Take some pictures if you can. 9: Have a look at the plants that are growing on the sand dunes. Can you recall what they might be and their proper names
