MJPS Board Meeting

Spring Conference: May 12-14th of 2015 in (Arrowwood in Alexandria)
Title: Millennium: Honoring the Past, Treasuring the Present, Shaping the Future.
Thank you: A big thank you to Shanna and Kim for all of their work on the conference!
Early Bird Rates: Please register by 3/20/15 for the early bird rates.
Speakers: Shanna and Kim mentioned that all speakers are set up to go and confirmed. Emily
Baxter will be the keynote speaker from We Are All Criminals project. Camey Ward will be a back-up
presenter in case of a no-show.
Registration: 29 MJPS members have registered for the conference so far, which is a pretty good
response rate so far.
Vendors: Vendor registration fees are all listed on the MJPS website: $150 per booth.
So far there are four exhibitors signed up (Adult and Teen Challenge, Northstar Problem Gambling,
Advanced Correctional Healthcare, Zuercher) and one sponsor (Teen Challenge). There are another
handful of exhibitors pending. Members: Please encourage your vendor contacts to register
for the conference on the MSA website!
Food: Meeting attendees selected a delectable array of food choices for the conference
Entertainment: Dave Kieke is taking care of the entertainment and will running a game show and
a fishing game. For the entertainment, it would be great to get donations from jails. Mr. Kieke is
looking for donations of pens, water bottles, post-it notes, and any other swag items that
members can bring to the conference from their respective facilities. Please turn these donated gifts
to MJPS board members during registration.
Golfing and Mini Golfing Prices:
$45 golfing 18 holes, and $28 for the cart
$28 golfing 9 holes, and $22 for the cart
Mini golfing: 9 holes = $5 & 18 holes =$10
Pre-conference Board Lunch: Board members will meet at Lake Café in the main lobby of the
Arrowwood Resort at noon on 5/12/15 at to discuss conference preparation over lunch.
Conference Recruitment: At the MJPS board meeting on April 15th meeting Ann will provide a list
of registered attendees for the spring conference so that executive committee board members can
divide and conquer the list to recruit the members that have not yet registered for the conference.
Elections for Executive MJPS Members: There will be two position openings for board members
at the Spring Conference. Please start thinking about a colleague that you would like to nominate to
serve on the board!
Kay Seibrass Program of the Year and Dave Grant Program of the Year Nominations:
Programmers and administrators please submit your nominations to Mel Hehr, the MJPS
Board President by 4/3/15. The different criteria for the two awards are listed on the criteria on
the website at https://netforum.avectra.com/eWeb/DynamicPage.aspx?Site=MSA&WebCode=MJPSConf.
Future Conference Centers
Mel mentioned that she has collected a number of RFPs for future conference locations and that it
is significantly more work than she anticipated (and has a newfound appreciation for what MSA
does). She has identified several viable options within the budget that will be able to accommodate
the MJPS needs and is still waiting to hear back from several conference centers.
Tentative Dates & Location for Spring Conferences 2016/2017/2018:
-April 26th-28th, 2016 at Ruttger’s Resort near Brainerd
-April 25th -27th, 2017 in Rochester
-Dates TBD, 2018 at Arrowwood in Alexandria
DOC Property Form
The DOC Property form was handed out to programmers at the 2014 Fall Conference in St. Cloud.
This form has been included in this document on the 3rd page. Please share this information with
your jail administrators and staff.
Fall Conference
The upcoming fall conference is set for October 7th, 2015 at the Wright County Jail.

ADMISSIONS PROCEDURES FOR MINNESOTA CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES
MINNESOTA CORRECTIONAL FACILITY ST CLOUD WILL RECEIVE: All adult male or certified
males, all male pre-sentence investigative holds and release violators with new sentence.
MINNESOTA CORRECTIONAL FACILITY SHAKOPEE WILL RECEIVE: All adult female or certified
adult females and all female pre-sentence investigation holds.
DOC refers to offenders that have been found guilty but not sentenced as pre-sentence investigation holds per
Minnesota Statute 609.115 sub. f.
Admissions will be accepted only from 7:30 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. Monday through Friday excluding state
holidays. (The receiving area will be closed at 3:45 p.m.) MCF-SCL Intake receives commitments from
Hennepin and Ramsey Counties on Wednesdays and Fridays. Other counties should try to transport on
Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays to avoid delays. Please be advised that under certain security
circumstances, the facility including Intake may be shut down. Shut down will be communicated to transport
and county agency as quickly as possible.
It is essential to notify the admitting facility one day in advance. Please fax the attached NOTICE OF
ADMISSION ALONG WITH THE WOC OR SENTENCING ORDER, INCLUDING JAIL CREDIT
ORDERED to MCF-St. Cloud or MCF-Shakopee and include your estimated time of arrival as well as any
medical or security behavior concerns. See back of page for more medical information.

Bring the following (do not fax) with the offenders that are new commits or release violators with new

ordered, date of offense, date of birth and offenders full name

BRING ONLY THE FOLLOWING PROPERTY FOR THE OFFENDER:
Any clothing or articles not authorized will be returned with the transporting officers.
Clothing (County jumpsuit, shoes, & coats are preferred and will be returned immediately w/ transport staff)
1 pair prescription eyeglasses/contact lenses
1 plain wedding band (no stones) – no other jewelry
1 address book
20 personal photographs (no albums, Polaroid’s, gang related, or sexually explicit photos).
Legal materials – floppy disks, CD’s DVD’s or Flash Drives are not allowed
Religious items (no more than 5)
Money (County check or voucher preferred)
Dentures or dental partials
Medically approved prosthetics
Offenders current driver’s license and /or current state identification card (no wallets please)
Social Security Card
Passport
The property must be kept separate from the offender. The offenders should have nothing on their person.
All other property must be disposed of prior to transport. Revised 9/2013
