Update on the Intelligent Mail Package Barcode
FedEx began accepting IMpb labels on February 1, 2012. In addition, the label and electronic package data
interchange (EPDI) specifications became available in February 2012. Specification based customers will be
contacted by a FedEx SmartPost representative who will provide label and EPDI documents and discuss the IMpb
migration process. Please contact your account representative or email [email protected] if you have additional

On January 22, 2012, the USPS changed the rules for non-machinable weight and dimensions.

SmartPost customers at this time. We will provide further details as they become available.
Reminder about Standard Mail Reclassification
Effective January 22, 2012, the USPS reclassified their Standard Mail product offering to a lightweight subcategory
of Parcel Select called Parcel Select Lightweight. Delivery confirmation is included on all Parcel Select Lightweight
packages.
