News You Can Use:
Get Ready to Dip!
During the next few weeks, you will receive a new debit card. The card adds
improved security and fraud protection with an embedded computer chip. This
technology is already securing payment cards in more than 80 countries and is now
being adopted as the card
standard in the U.S.
Merchants are installing new
payment terminals that support
the new chip cards. When
making a purchase with your
chip card in a new terminal, you
will insert or “dip” your card into
the terminal slot and briefly hold
it there until the card is verified
with Grand Savings Bank.
You still may be required to enter your card’s PIN or sign for transactions.
Your card will also work on old-style payment terminals that don’t use the new
technology.
When you receive your new chip card, please activate it immediately, and destroy
your old card. Your new card will have same card number, but the expiration date
and CVV (Card Verification Value) security code will be different. Please update all
recurring card payments with the new expiration date and CVV code.
To learn more about your new smart card please visit www.grandsavingsbank.com
for a short informational video.

extra effort to get to know our customers personally. We want to understand
what financial services we offer that
are most beneficial to your lifestyle. You will never hear the word “Sales” or
“Promotion” from a Grand Savings
Bank team member, only how can we
BENEFIT you, a trusted bank
customer! It is definitely hard to say goodbye to
2016; thank you for your loyalty and
goodwill throughout the year. We look
forward to working with you in 2017.

Working for Grand Savings in Fort Smith offers our
team a unique set of opportunities and challenges,
since we are literally the “new-bank-on-the-block.”
my co-workers and I dedicate time each day to
making contacts in our community and sharing our
excitement about GSB with them. Naturally we
familiarize them with GSB’s great products and
services, but we try to impart the enthusiasm that is
such a part of GSB’s culture. Our enthusiastic culture
is what keeps us motivated as we build Fort Smith
from the ground up!
As the only lender currently in our location, the
“activities of daily lending” also occupy a lot of my
time. How I treat our customers and how efficiently
and professionally I can satisfy their lending needs
hopefully goes a long way in generating buzz for GSB
in Fort Smith and helps explain just what we mean by
Extreme Banking.
Community Involvement
Junior Board of Directors
Our Junior Board of Directors enjoyed a visit to the
Jack Henry Banking headquarters in Monet, MO.
They heard presentations from multiple speakers
including customer education, sales, cyber security,
and finance. They also enjoyed an amazing tour of
the JH airport.
Jack Henry & Associates is the software provider
that the bank uses to process financial transactions.
Jack Henry has been GSB’s trusted core processing
service since 1984.
In addition to serving customers, I also try to serve
my co-workers each day by keeping them motivated,
engaged, connected, and informed. We have daily
officer meetings that keep all the GSB branches
connected. It’s my job to pass the knowledge and
excitement from those meetings on to my co-workers.
As a Market President I am tasked with the responsibility to build up GSB in Fort Smith, to serve our
customers and community, and to serve those who
took the brave step of coming to work for a brand
new bank. This responsibility might be overwhelming
were it not for such fantastic co-workers and an
unbelievably supportive management team! I can
truly say, “I am GSB.””

Employee Q&A
Lesa Buffer, Employee of the Month
How long have you worked at Grand Savings Bank and what is your role?
I’ve been at Grand Savings Bank for 2 years; 33 years altogether - the first 31 years with Decatur
State Bank. I’ve worked in data processing/IT/bookkeeping all of those years.
What’s your favorite part about your job?
I look forward to getting new software that makes
everyone’s job easier. I like how every day is something
different. It’s never boring.
How do you define “Extreme Banking”? Having
superior customer service and state of the art
technology.
What do you like to do for fun? I love being at the lake
or the beach or the pool and I love being wherever my
grandsons are. They are quite active so I keep busy
following them around. I enjoy the variety of friends I
have, they are always fun to be around.
If you won the lottery, would you do with your money? I don’t know if it’s proper but I would tithe
first. I hate to think of myself but I would buy myself a house on the lake big enough to
accommodate family and friends along with all the lake toys.
Tell us about your family. I have 2 sons; Scott and his wife Kari have 3 boys and live in Carl
Junction Mo. Dustin and his wife Alicia live in Jay and have 1 son. Right now the oldest grandson
is playing basketball, the next 2 wrestle and the youngest is in youth rodeo. They all play baseball
and football, in season. I’m the oldest of five kids and we all live within 10 miles of each other. I
have an English bulldog Daisy, she is 9 ½ years old.
Do you have any fun vacations planned this year? I don’t yet; I’m waiting to win the lottery first lol.
I’m looking forward to when my kids can schedule a time we can all go to the beach together. It’s
hard to work around every one’s activities.
What’s your favorite…
Book? The Bible
Food? Hmmm that’s tough might be easier to say I don’t like cooked vegetables.
Movie? Elvis movies, romance, comedy
Holiday? 4th of July (going to be on the water somewhere)
