Friday, 2/7/14 Items to Keep in Mind… THESIS: You have to answer the essay question in your thesis. You CANNOT just state, “There were social, political, and economic effects of imperialism on the lives of Indians.” You have to state HOW their lives were impacted. POINT OF VIEW: As you read the documents, be on the lookout for a document that illustrates Point-of-View. When you write POV, be sure to use your Historiography packet from the beginning of the school year. (Use sentence-starters from there). You have to have a minimum of one correctly analyzed POV for the essay. OTHER THINGS: Your essay will have 5 paragraphs with a minimum of 2 documents per body paragraph, for a total of 6 documents. A paragraph is 5-8 sentences. Remember to restate your thesis in your conclusion. Don’t forget to CITE and PARAPHRASE your documents! Please do not end the essay with a question and refrain from using first or second person. (See the “Essay Writing Guidelines” from the beginning of the school year for more information).
