Monitoring Groundwater Wells near the KRD North Branch Canal

This presentation shows groundwater level monitoring data collected
between 2015 and 2016 from wells within the Kittitas Reclamation
District. Groundwater levels are being monitored to assess the
response of irrigation practices on local groundwater levels. This work
is being done as part of the Groundwater Recharge Element of the
Yakima Basin Integrated Plan.
Available data suggests a widespread response to groundwater levels
resulting from irrigation practices. The magnitude and timing of the
response (i.e., rise in groundwater level) is dependent on a number of
factors, including local geology, distance from canals, laterals and/or
irrigated land, method of irrigation, local precipitation, and depth of
well. This work is a part of the groundwater recharge and storage
efforts being conducted to support the objectives of the Integrated
Plan.
