David Bernstein, the main character, is a brave kid who has an
overactive imagination! He got himself into situations where he might
have gotten into trouble. Luckily, he didn’t. For example, he thought that
another tenant in his apartment building was a thief because he found a
trunk filled with “jewels.” The trunk was labeled “Vivaldi.” On the way
home from the corner, grocery store, Ali Baba passed by Apartment 4-K
which was Mr. Vivaldi’s apartment. He thought he heard a woman
screaming from inside the apartment. Ali Baba hammered on the door of
the apartment demanding to be let in. When the door opened, a man in
a strange outfit and helmet was standing there. Ali Baba soon learned
that the screaming he heard was not a woman being robbed after all. As
a matter of fact, it wasn’t even a real woman! The man was playing a
record of an opera on the his record player. The odd-looking outfit and
helmet was a costume the man used to wear when he performed on
stage before he retired from the opera. And the jewels…well, they were
just fake jewels! Another time, Ali Baba and his friend, Roger were
playing F.B.I. in the hallway of Roger’s apartment building. They spotted
“blood” on the floor outside of someone’s apartment. Ali Baba thought a
criminal had poured ketchup and broken eggs over it to ‘throw them off
track” of the criminal. The boys discovered what truly happened. The
tenant in apartment 9B had just dropped some of her groceries. Nothing
adventurous had actually happened. Here again, Ali Baba’s overactive
imagination had gotten the best of him! Along with his far-fetched
imagination, Ali Baba showed his bravery as well. (wrap up
