Punctuality & Attendance

• Morning (am) session 8.45 – 11.45am with the gate

• Afternoon (pm) session 12.15 – 3.15 with the gate

• Use Summerfield Road gate only during day
• Please do not park in the roads immediately next to
the school.
• Drop off and pick up Nursery children first please!

• In our weekly home learning letter (also available on the
school website) we will tell you about our current learning.
By talking about this with your children, you will help them
develop their understanding and communication skills.

Literacy - Reading
• We are aiming to build a love of story, books
and reading.
• Please make time to read with your child as
often as possible.
• Don’t forget it is important for you to carry on
reading and sharing stories with your child
throughout their school life.
Phonics
• We begin with a focus on Phase 1 (letters and
sounds) phonics – rhyming, alliteration,
sounds we hear around us and body

• We then introduce the sound of letters within
general play and talk about a sound of the
week.
• We use the ‘Read Write Inc’ programme in
school.
• pure sound – no ‘u’ in ‘t’.

• On Friday mornings, the class teachers and
Early Years Practitioners (EYPs) are out of class
for planning and preparation time (PPA).
• Miss Housego and Miss Daiwish (our
additional EYPs), with 2 exciting opportunities;
Big Foot (Drama and singing), Fit for Sport
with Mr Allen.
• Afternoon children get these opportunities on
Thursday (Big Foot) and Friday (Fit for Sport).
