1] The Great Hall
Look at the windows at the top of the Great
Hall.
a) How many windows are there along one
long side of the Great Hall?
b) Do you think there will be the same
number of windows on the opposite side of
the Hall? (Clue: The Great Hall is
symmetrical)
c) How many windows are there along one
short side of the Great Hall?
d) How can you work out how many windows
there are without counting them all?
2] Corridor leading from the Great Hall
a) How many stone heads are there on
each side of the corridor?
b) How many stone heads in total in the
corridor?
c) Each stone head is standing on a piece
of marble (a plinth). What 3D (3
dimensional) shape is this plinth - a cube,
a cylinder or a sphere?
3] Churchill bedroom
a) Find two 2D shapes in this bedroom. (The
2D shapes shown on the front cover of this quiz
will give you a clue.)

a) Look at the ceiling. What shape is the

b) Stand looking at the painting of the lady
above the fireplace. If you turned ¼ way round
clockwise what would you be looking at?
c) If you then turned ½ way round anticlockwise what would you be looking at?
10] The Second State Room
a) Do you think that both Tapestries are the same
size?
b) Look around the edge of one of the Tapestries.
Which measurement seems to be the longest, the
height or the width?

d) Look at one of the large mirrors in this room.
How many right angles can you see in the

Stand so you are looking out of the windows. You
are facing south, looking at the South Lawn.

Look up at the ceiling above the statue of
Queen Anne.
