Chapter 1 Study Guide
Roots of the American People
Wow! Did you have any idea those “First Americans” were so advanced? Imagine,
they traveled to two brand new continents hunting the dangerous woolly mammoth,
established the first American civilizations (like the Maya, Aztec, Inca
Mississippians and Anasazi), and developed lots of different cultural areas across
North America from the Eastern Woodlands to the Far West. With all of these
people and cultures established in North America for thousands of years, it will be
rather funny in Chapter Two when Christopher Columbus declares he “discovered”
America!
