2016-17 Information Update #4 – October 24, 2016 We have a twitter page: @HEUOECTA Earned Leave Plan: The board has released the Earned Leave Plan calculation for the 2016-2017 school year for Halton Elementary Unit teachers. Any permanent teacher who accesses 10.3 paid leave days or fewer (a.k.a. sick days, medical/dental appointments, Compassionate Days, etc.) in the 2016-2017 school year will be eligible to receive the allocation of Earned Leave Plan days in September, 2017. Neither Bereavement Leave nor the utilization of any Earned Leave Plan, partially paid day is utilized for this calculation. The Earned Leave Plan provision can be found in article 8 of Part A of the Collective Agreement. Getting Hired Workshop: The Halton Occasional Teacher Getting Hired workshop will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. at Corpus Christi CES, in the cafeteria. Remembrance Day Parade: The Halton Elementary Unit has been invited to walk in the Remembrance Day parade on November 6, 2016. The parade leaves the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 486 (79 Jones St., Bronte) at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2016 and it will proceed via Lakeshore Road to the Chris Vokes Memorial Park Cenotaph in Bronte. If you or you and your family wish to walk in this Remembrance Day parade, please send your name and the number of people walking with you, to [email protected] by Wednesday, October 26, 2016 before 10:30 a.m. Unit General Meeting #1: Thursday, October 27, 2016 @4:30 in the HEU Office This Unit General Meeting is for the purpose of reviewing the proposed Halton Elementary Unit 2016-2017 budget. The agenda, meeting minutes and notice of motions were sent out to the membership on Friday, October 14, 2016. We welcome your attendance and your voice at this meeting. Save the date!! Saturday, November 26, 2016 the HEU will be hosting a Skating and Santa evening at the Glen Abbey Community Centre. OECTA Benefits Plan: Although the dates have not been yet confirmed, Halton teachers will be transitioned to the plan during Wave 2. This will take place sometime in the new year. Things that you must do: 1. Ensure that the board has your current and accurate personal contact information, including email address and phone number. 2. Please submit all allowable claims to SunLife as you receive them, for processing and reimbursement. The OECTA benefits plan will not reimburse for benefits claims that are incurred under the current plan. 3. Ensure that both the HEU and OECTA Provincial have your current and accurate personal email address so that we can provide you with up to date information regarding your transition date and how to verify your claimant information that will be provided to the OECTA benefits plan by the board. Currently the Wave 1 teachers are preparing for their transition dates.
