GROW AZA & BBG Every interaction matters. The greatest way to grow our movement is to emphasize the impact that each new member has on the movement’s momentum. This can be portrayed both though the individual experiences that we provide our members with as well as the collective difference we make in our respective communities. Additionally, in order to grow and sustain our movement, we must engage in effective community mapping to meet teens where we have not traditionally found them. It is essential that we provide every new member with an individual experience so that they feel valued as an engaged member of our community in our movement rather than become a number on a membership list. In order to make this a reality, we must recruit with regularity around multiple program funnels rather than just a huge push in Fall and Spring. With a steady flow of new members not only will there be a culture of recruitment all year long, but it will also allow new members to follow a funnel while having a more intimate experience. The more that a pulse of recruitment is felt throughout the year, the more regular it will become for a community to adapt to and value the BBYO experience. When BBYO has a high profile in a community, a pipeline from bar mitzvah to BBYO will be seamless. PROGRAM EXCELLENCE Programming is the language of our movement. In our 73rd year, we will communicate that language with ambition. We will program with a purpose, understanding that this is what connects our members to the movement. Seeing as programming is what sets our communities apart, it is essential that every program we plan is program of excellence. Whether it be through community service, Israel education, or recreation, each program will have the objective of strengthening our movement in a specific way. Through the selection of effective and impactful international initiatives, BBYO communities can have the ability to program purposefully and further make a wave of change. As our chapters are the ones engaging in and creating the largest amount of programming, it is essential to provide them with ample resources to build the best experiences possible. Our order has a long history of program excellence -- we know what works. In the coming year, any member should be able to not only create an innovative program but also find ones that have seen success. Though a re-born program database, members from every corner of the earth will not have to re-invent the wheel. They will be able to find our order’s best programs easily, bring them home, and translate them to success in their community. BBYO STAND UP As one of our order’s guiding principles is tikkun olam, we must stand up for the causes we believe in. This is key to our identity as a movement for it is what shows our members that we are a part of something bigger than ourselves. Stand Up is not only key to our character as a movement, but also a key way to connect with teens who are trying to make a difference in our world. In order to make Stand Up! meaningful in our 73th year, we must make it tangible and personal. The more easily members can connect to causes in their communities and engage with them on a personal level, the stronger our results will be. If we are able to have our communities participate in service projects which they are personally connected to, not only will they have made an actionable contribution to their community, but they will also feel motivated to continue their actions. Whether it be collecting money for refugees or volunteering for Jewish adults with disabilities, personal investment is is essential to the connection with BBYO. BBYO GOES GLOBAL The Jewish people make up less than 1% of the nearly 7 billion people that inhabit the planet. Despite occupying a minute percentage of the world’s population, there is so much we as a people have done to advance society. The global Jewish community has moved mountains, and teens from all four corners of the earth have been a part of it. However, as a movement we are often unable to understand the accomplishments of our global brothers and sisters as they are hundreds of miles away. In order to ensure that we best connect with one another it is essential that we establish valuable and personal relationships worldwide. We already have partner global regions, but why not take it to the next level by attending each other’s conventions? Similarly, Global Shabbat is already celebrated around the world, but why not find a way to connect with one another via shared programs that we create together. With 21st century technology, the options are limitless. The more that we personally connect to each other, the more engaged we will be in each other’s success and the more we will become one global team. BBYO SPEAK UP Unwavering support for Israel as the Jewish homeland is a pillar of our movement. BBYO’s vision statement articulates how our members should have a lasting commitment to Judaism. Israel stands as one of the most tangible connections to our traditions and thus promoting and encouraging the strength of our nation is one mechanism to achieve that vision. In order for our commitment to Israel to continue to flourish we must connect as many members as we can deeply and personally with the success of the state. We must demonstrate the connection that Israel has not only with our movement but with the Jewish people as a whole. Through new and innovative activities and interactives, every member of AZA and BBG who chooses to do so , will feel comfortable supporting Israel with reliable and factual information. In our 73rd year we will connect chapters and regions with local, Israel supporting organizations with whom they can use as a resource to provide meaningful programming and reliable information. Further, we will strive to make Israel matter to our members by promoting and sending as many members to summits on Israel as possible and providing them with tangible resources to take back home to their communities. As these delegates return home, they will not only have physical resources and the motivation to bring what they have learned back, but also they will have the support of members of the larger BBYO community who have shared experiences to do so.
