Eugene and Anke McKernan produce scarves
since 1985. Working together in their County
Clare workshop in Ireland, they produce the
woven styles on historic Hattersley Domestic
looms. This 19th century technology creates
a woven selvedge on every scarf, a feature
reminiscent of handwoven textiles. The knitted
styles are made on their 50 year old mechanical as well as a modern multi-gauge Stoll knitting machine. Each scarf is then hand finished
in the McKernan workshop. As a family business using traditional production methods Eugene and Anke McKernan have stayed true
to their core values of sustainable quality and
imaginative design. With good craftsmanship,
original patterns and a multitude of natural
textures and harmonious colours they fabricate scarves which consciously differ from
fast changing fashion trends and often become unique and treasured keepsakes.

GYPSY
Knitted from 80% Merino Wool 20% Cashmere in Basket Stitch with Tuck Effect
Available in 12 Colours

Two Italian yarns are mixed in this triangular shawl, a Merino/Cashmere blend from Tuscany
and a finer Pure Merino Wool from Piedmont.
COSMO
Woven from 100% Merino Wool in a Broken Twill Weave
Available in 12 Colours
Size: 0.45m x 2.30m Weight: 185g
The colour of this scarf changes thread by thread over it’s full width. To achieve this unique effect,
the warp is made from a shiny Merino Wool from Piedmont, Italy using a vertical hand-warping mill.
The weft yarn is a slightly thicker Merino Wool, spun in Yorkshire, England. The fringes are knotted by hand.

Knitted from 80% Baby Alpaca 20% Silk in a Rib Stitch punctured with Lace holes and hemmed with a ruffled edging
