4. -ED and -ING ADJECTIVE ENDINGS INTERMEDIATE INTERMEDIATE 4. -ED and -ING ADJECTIVE ENDINGS DESCRIBING PEOPLE or THINGS and FEELINGS Adjectives ending in –ing are “active adjectives”. They describe things or people: • The monster is terrifying. • The tyrannosaurus is amusing because he drinks tea with his little arms. • The dance move of the pop star is thrilling. Adjectives ending in –ed are “passive adjectives”. They describe feelings: • I feel terrified when I look at the monster. • I feel amused when I see the tyrannosaurus drinking tea with his little arms. • I just feel so thrilled when I see the pop star doing his dance move.
