Elia Festa
Elia Festa is both an artist and a poet. His
vision of the world is exceptional and,
with his photographic eye, he invites us to
­observe objects and study reality in greater
depth. At first sight, his works seem abstract,
but under the surface there are hidden layers of meaning and a unique interpretation
of Life’s myriad of details.
Elia Festa was born in Milan on 1 January 1956. From an early age, art was an
important element in his life. At the tender age of 16, Elia Festa was apprenticed
to renowned Albanian artist, Ibrahim Koda. Through the 1970s and 1980s, Elia
worked on a variety of creative projects with focus on the photographic. Today
photography still plays a key role in his works. In 2000, he published a collection of portraits that had been ten years in the making. This work was included
in ”100 al 2000”, a publication issued by the photo gallery, Photology, which
reviewed important international art photography. During Spring 2011, Elia ­Festa’s
solo ­
exhibition ”Microbi/Photosophy” could be seen at the Cath Alexandrine
­Danneskjold-Samsøe Gallery in Copenhagen.
Photo Art Rugs
The collection is the result of a fruitful collaboration between Italian photo-artist Elia
Festa and ege carpets. Despite the fact that art and design from the outset represent two very different universes, this collection succeeds in creating an outstanding
interaction between the two. When you move art from the wall to the floor, you
cannot help entering into a dialogue with the observer as he steps onto it – and
this is exactly what we seek to achieve in interiors. Our carpets are designed to
create a mood and an invitation to dialogue.
”I see the carpets as canvases, as photographs that enter into dialogue with the
space and with the observer. Carpets are works spread across a horizontal floor,
and which form the framework for a new universe of expression. I want to change
how we see carpets. Carpets have to be dynamic and organic, and they must
challenge the individual to uncover his or her personal expression,” explains Elia
Festa.

The Photo Art Rugs collection is a collection of rugs made in 2000 gram polyamide with a luxurious Saxony cut
loop pile, which gives the carpet a soft, plush feel. The colour-matched edging is discreet and somehow adds to the
