HOLIDAY HOMEWORK
CLASS: V
THEME:COLOURS
Dear children,
Summer is the time of infinite fun. The day seems to last forever, and the fun never
stops. It is a time of excitement and an enhanced enjoyment of life. Somehow
summer never seems to last long enough. It is always over before we get a chance
to fully experience its power. This is true of all things wonderful. They always
seem too short.
Vacation means no studies, no homework and no specific time table. This break
from the constant pressure of school and homework, allows us to pursue new
interests and pick up old hobbies. Summer vacations are a time to become more
creative and expand social horizons. Our minds are let loose upon the world and
we get to spend quality time with friends and family. For parents, holidays can be a
great time to bond with their children and maybe even let your own inner child
come out to play.
Here’s how we all can make our summer vacations more exhilarating and creative!
Make your own games.
Get a supply of coloured cards, scissors, glue and anything else you may want to
make some fun games. Games like Hoopla, Pin the Tail on the Donkey or Snakes
and Ladders can all be easily made at home.
Cooking and baking
Once a week plan a cooking or baking day. Select recipes that you have ingredients
for. Step by step work through the instructions given in the recipe book.
Go camping
Build a tent indoors or outdoors with blankets and sheets. It is a great activity that
can involve both you and your parents.
Create a Summer Diary
Keep a Summer Diary or scrapbook. Take photos of special days and write about
them. It will become a lovely memory book for the future.
Get Constructive
Workshops are a great way to spend your vacations because you get to learn new
things. The workshop you attend can be pertaining to anything that interests you,
whether it is art and craft, drawing, singing, origami, dancing, debate or even life
skills.
Paint
One of the nicest ways to express your creativity is to use paint. Get large sheets of
paper and lots of paint. To avoid any stress, prepare the area well and cover with
plastic or newspaper. Have some water on hand to wash when you are finished.
Enjoy Nature
Go on nature walks, go for a hike, have a picnic, fly a kite, or visit a nature reserve.
Once you’re on your walk, you can collect flowers, stones or shells, look at the
birds flying in the sky, play hide and seek in the park, collect shells and decorate
them by painting them etc.
Habit of Exercising Regularly Follow a routine of exercise and you can join a
yoga class. Yoga helps in improving concentration and keeps the mind and body
healthy as well.
Get Involved In Household Chores
You can fold clothes; arrange books and toys, dry utensils and plates and so many
other household works. This will not only help in staying busy, but also help learn
cleanliness and stay in discipline.
