The day seems to last forever, and the fun never stops. It is a time of excitement and an enhanced enjoyment of life. Somehow summer never seems to last long enough. It is always over before we get a chance to fully experience its power. This is true of all things wonderful. They always seem too short. Vacation means no studies, no homework and no specific time table. This break from the constant pressure of school and homework, allows us to pursue new interests and pick up old hobbies. Summer vacations are a time to become more creative and expand social horizons. Our minds are let loose upon the world and we get to spend quality time with friends and family. For parents, holidays can be a great time to bond with their children and maybe even let your own inner child come out to play. Here’s how we all can make our summer vacations more exhilarating and creative! Make your own games. Get a supply of coloured cards, scissors, glue and anything else you may want to make some fun games. Games like Hoopla, Pin the Tail on the Donkey or Snakes and Ladders can all be easily made at home. Cooking and baking Once a week plan a cooking or baking day. Select recipes that you have ingredients for. Step by step work through the instructions given in the recipe book. Go camping Build a tent indoors or outdoors with blankets and sheets. It is a great activity that can involve both you and your parents. Create a Summer Diary Keep a Summer Diary or scrapbook. Take photos of special days and write about them. It will become a lovely memory book for the future. Get Constructive Workshops are a great way to spend your vacations because you get to learn new things. The workshop you attend can be pertaining to anything that interests you, whether it is art and craft, drawing, singing, origami, dancing, debate or even life skills. Paint One of the nicest ways to express your creativity is to use paint. Get large sheets of paper and lots of paint. To avoid any stress, prepare the area well and cover with plastic or newspaper. Have some water on hand to wash when you are finished. Enjoy Nature Go on nature walks, go for a hike, have a picnic, fly a kite, or visit a nature reserve. Once you’re on your walk, you can collect flowers, stones or shells, look at the birds flying in the sky, play hide and seek in the park, collect shells and decorate them by painting them etc. Habit of Exercising Regularly Follow a routine of exercise and you can join a yoga class. Yoga helps in improving concentration and keeps the mind and body healthy as well. Get Involved In Household Chores You can fold clothes; arrange books and toys, dry utensils and plates and so many other household works. This will not only help in staying busy, but also help learn cleanliness and stay in discipline. ENGLISH Read the newspaper regularly during your holidays. Solve English crosswords and puzzles given in the newspaper as well. Note: All the project files should be made using A4 size sheet. Use of photographs and data will be appreciated. ART AND CRAFT Make a folder of A3 size using pastel sheet. Collect colourful pieces of cloth and paste them creatively on the folder. (To be done by all) Note: Use the above folder to compile the holiday homework of all the subjects and submit it to your class teacher on 3rd July 2017.
