FATHERS’ PRAYERS - A NEW INIATIVE FOR ALL MEN:
Dear men, fathers and grandfathers, godfathers and mentors,
The Lord has an extraordinary plan for us as men and fathers and,
naturally, our marriages and the families/people we support. Even if
you are not biologically a father, as a man you may be a father figure
to other men or to younger relatives. Prayer is an essential part of that
plan as it strengthens us in our faith, helps us to be closer to others
and Christ, and combat temptation. We were never intended, God
tells, us “to do life alone”, but in partnership with Him. This is a
counter-cultural message for today’s man who is tempted to believe
he has to do it all himself.
Our Loving Father in heaven is a practical God who cares about earthly
details as well as the supernatural. God cares about our work, (or lack
of it!) whether we can pay the rent, how our relationships are going
and wants to help us with all these things as well as helping us become
truly like His Son. What’s more, He delights in our prayers, particularly
when we get together to pray together, in which case that
prayer becomes incredibly powerful in transforming our lives, our
marriages and the lives of our children and grandchildren.
Father’s Prayers is a global Catholic prayer movement that started
from the UK in the same spirit (The Holy Spirit) as Mothers' Prayers another powerful global intercessory movement.
Father Niven himself will be explaining more about this movement
and how we intend to launch it in our Parish. Please join us
on Thursday 15 June from 8 to 8:45 pm in the prayer chapel at the
church. Contact: [email protected] or [email protected]

FARNHAM ASSIST: Dear Friends, It is my great honour and delight to
announce that Farnham Assist has been awarded the prestigious
Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services. This is the highest award given
to volunteer groups across the UK. It is awarded for outstanding
achievement by groups who volunteer their own time to enhance and
improve the lives of others. Brian Kurton and I had the honour of being
invited to attend a Royal Garden Party last week at Buckingham Palace
and there will be a larger celebration locally, later in the summer, to
which you will all be invited when we will be presented with the
official plaque and signed certificate from Her Majesty. I am sorry we
haven’t been able to share this news earlier, but we were asked to
keep this news strictly confidential until it was announced by the
palace today. This award represents all your hard work and support
over a prolonged period of time, so very well done and thank you for
being a vital part of this recognition. Many congratulations to
everyone . June Trantom, Manager, Farnham ASSIST, 7, St Georges
