Visual Metaphor
The scramble for African territory among Europeans was like
prospectors racing to stake a claim in the gold country.
The prospector labeled
“Britain” is staking his claim
which is labeled “African
Colony” in the gold country
which is labeled “Africa.”
Directly behind the initial
prospector, are other miners,
(Clearly less powerful hence
portrayed as “minors”) are
seen approaching and
demanding their “fair share.”
