Consecutive Numbers
Consecutive numbers are numbers which come
straight after one another, so 1, 2, 3 are consecutive.
Problem
Pick 4 consecutive numbers (keep them small), such
as 5, 6, 7, 8.
Keeping the numbers in order from smallest to largest, place a + or - sign in between each number and
work out the answer. See how many different possibilities there are.
To get you started:
5 + 6 + 7 + 8
Or
5 - 6 + 7 - 8
And so on.
Once you have your answers, change your 4 consecutive numbers. Work out the new answers with all
possibilities of + and -.
