Consecutive Numbers Consecutive numbers are numbers which come straight after one another, so 1, 2, 3 are consecutive. Problem Pick 4 consecutive numbers (keep them small), such as 5, 6, 7, 8. Keeping the numbers in order from smallest to largest, place a + or - sign in between each number and work out the answer. See how many different possibilities there are. To get you started: 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 Or 5 - 6 + 7 - 8 And so on. Once you have your answers, change your 4 consecutive numbers. Work out the new answers with all possibilities of + and -.
