Information needed to know for lesson
Students are just beginning to use estar and the plural forms of ser after being introduced to them discretely
in the previous chapters. They just learned how to use the plural form of the verb To Be / Ser (permanent
states) and have just been taught how to conjugate the verb To Be Estar (transitional states).
As we know by now, there are two ways to express the verb “To Be” in
Spanish. The first one that we learned is SER and the second one that we
learned is ESTAR.
Look at the following sentences and decide if you would use SER or
ESTAR if you were to say the same thing in Spanish. Afterwards, fill in the
appropriate form of ser or estar. Remember, we have to make a choice in
Spanish that we do not have to make in English.
