Pout-Pout Fish
Swim along with the
pout-pout fish as he
discovers that being
glum and spreading
"dreary wearies"
isn't really his
destiny. Bright
ocean colors and
playful rhyme come
together in Deborah Diesen's fun fish story
that's sure to turn even the poutiest of
frowns upside down.
From $6.48 on Amazon.
We are looking for new parents to join our Policy Council! It is a
great way to have your voice heard in the program and get involved
with your child’s learning. Talk to your Parent Educator today!
Jellyfish Craft
Materials:
◦a cupcake liner or two (obviously)
◦tissue paper (or ribbons!!)
◦scissors
◦glue and duct tape
◦string
◦googly eyes, stickers or black marker
Start by cutting strips of tissue paper (or ribons or whatever material
you want to use). The more colors the merrier and you can cut them
so they are all the same length or make some longer or shorter.
Glue the strips of paper on the inside of the cupcake liner – not on
the walls but on the bottom as this way the jellyfish umbrella will
stand out more (and look cuter).
Flip it over and glue the string on the bottom of the cupcake liner (or
on top of the umbrella). As a final touch add some googly eyes (or
any other kind) to give this sea creature some personality! These
work out great as a decoration for an ocean themed birthday party –
ou can make a ton as they are an inexpensive decoration that really
looks adorable.

I Scream – You Scream – We All Scream for Ice Cream!!!!!
Counting, Matching Colors and Scooping
Fam
Fun ily
Cor
ner
!
Materials: construction paper, fruit loops, glue, scissors, crayons, cotton balls, large bowl, ice
cream scoopers
Directions:
1. You or your child cut out large triangles and half circles. Glue shapes onto paper in the shape of ice cream cones.
To practice counting, draw a number on the cone and have your child glue that number of fruit loops on the cone to
resemble sprinkles. To practice color matching, have your child match the color of cone to the same color of “ice
cream.”
2. For a sensory activity, roll a piece of
construction paper into a cone shape and
tape. Have your child scoop cotton balls
into the cone with an ice cream scooper.
Thank you Sara, Ava and Mya for the fun!
Song:
Here's a super easy tune
to sing while children
take turns bouncing (or
rolling) a ball:
This Is the Way
(Tune: Mulberry Bush)
This is the way we
bounce a ball, bounce a
ball, bounce a ball
This is the way we
bounce a ball
On this beautiful day!

Honey Bread
2 packages (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast
2-1/2 cups warm milk (110° to 115°)
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 teaspoons salt
8 to 8-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Directions
1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk. Add honey, butter, salt and 5 cups of flour;
beat until smooth. Add enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
2. Turn onto a floured board; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a
greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled,
about 1 hour.
3. Punch dough down and shape into two loaves. Place in greased 9-in. x 5-in. loaf pans.
Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
4. Bake at 375° for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Cover loosely with foil if top
browns too quickly. Remove from pans and cool on wire racks. Yield: 2 loaves.
