Glimmering Gi Box
Instructions:
1. Press fabric to smooth out wrinkles.
2. Cover work surface with newspaper. Lay box lid on fabric. Trace around with chalk pencil. Measure and mark approximately 3”
beyond box line and cut out fabric piece.
3. Lightly spray glue on top of lid and carefully lay fabric on top making certain lid is in very center of fabric piece. Press lid down onto
fabric and smooth out any bubbles.
4. Make an incision into fabric at each corner and fold edges under to create a clean fold. Use Tacky Spray to adhere corners and
excess fabric to inside of lid. Measure a piece of fabric slightly larger than inside of lid and cut out. Fold edges under and make sure
piece fits cleanly inside lid. Iron folded edges smooth. Spray inside of lid with Tacky Spray and press down fabric piece. Let dry.
5. Lay bottom part of box on top of larger piece of fabric and mark with pencil. Cut out piece, making it slightly larger than bottom of
box, and set aside. Measure height of box, as well as length of sides combined to create one long strip of fabric that will wrap
around sides of box. Add 1” to top and 1” to bottom height wise, and add 1” to the length of strip. Cut out.
6. Wrap strip around box to make sure it fits, then remove and spray sides of box with Tacky Spray. Fold one edge under ½” and press
onto corner edge of one of the sides for a clean edge. Continue to press and smooth strip onto sides of box, one side at a time.
Once you reach corner edge where strip begins, fold remaining end under ½” and press onto corner. Let dry.
7. Place box on poster board and trace around bottom. Cut out piece and spray with Tacky Spray. Place fabric piece cut earlier onto
piece and smooth out any wrinkles or bubbles. Spray fabric extending over edges and wrap over edges and press onto other side of
poster board piece. Let dry. Spray bottom of box with Tacky Spray and press poster board piece in place onto bottom, with fabric
covered side facing outward. Let dry.
8. Measure and cut poster board pieces to fit inside bottom and sides of box. Measure and cut slightly larger pieces of fabric to cover
poster board cutouts and adhere with Tacky Spray. Spray inside of box and press fabric-covered pieces into box.
9. Place lid on work surface. Mark 1¼” in around each side of box lid and tape off around outer edge of line. Measure and mark a 2¼”
x 4” rectangle in center of lid. Add tape around edge of each line.
10. Pour a puddle of Olive Matte onto foil and use makeup sponge to dab paint into the open area between tape. Let dry and repeat if
needed. Let dry and remove tape.
11. Place box on work surface. Add tape vertically around sides of box, completely covering each side. Remove every other strip to
create stripes. Sponge in Olive, let dry and repeat if necessary. Remove tape and let dry completely.
12. Spray entire box with Sparkling Silver Fabric Spray Paint™. Let dry.
13. Lightly draw in desired monogram with chalk pencil and place crystals on top. Adhere with Cordless Heat-Setting Tool™ according
to package instructions.
14. Tie ribbon around lid.
