instruments. Children will design
their own Aztec instruments and
explain how they work.
Children will learn about why
music was important in Aztec
culture.
Children will create their own
performance pieces to Aztec music.

Humanities – Aztecs
Children will learn about significant aspects of Aztec culture, including daily life, religion and war.

Children will learn about how the Aztec Empire was conquered by
the Spanish.

Children will learn about the Mexican city of Tenochtitlan and compare this with modern day Mexico city.

Children will learn about the geographical features of Mexico, and
how the Aztecs were able to exploit these to survive.
Summer 1
Sensational Start: Carousel of Aztec activities, including poetry
writing and Aztec games.
Fabulous Finish: Aztec dress up day and re-enactment of the first
meeting between the Aztecs and the Spanish conquistadors.

Children will use Window’s Movie Maker to create a video yearbook.
They will learn about inputting photo, video and audio files.
They will learn to sequence,
select and repeat effects.

topic of ‘Theme parks’;
Revision of numbers (adding 2, 3, 4 to a number
mentally);
