Twelfth Night: Song Edition http://www.redkaraoke.com/profile/simrynxlauren Act One Summary: This song is a parody of “She Looks So Perfect” by 5 Seconds of Summer and fits into act one of “The Twelfth Night”. The song is written in Olivia’s perspective, and describes her first encounter with Cesario and how she feels about this. It fits the first act of the play because it clearly states the main idea of the act, and the fact that Olivia is so strongly attracted to Cesario with a feeling of love at first sight. This song fits the play because it describes Olivias feelings of how perfect Cesario looks, and now she admits to sending Malvolio after him just to get his attention because she can’t stay away from him. Hey, hey, hey, hey Hey, hey, hey, hey Hey, hey, hey, hey Hey, hey, hey, hey Calm down, calm down This morning started off as any other this week had I had thought Orsino would send just another plain, old wooer round But I was wrong, so wrong Now I wanted you to stay, honey You looked so perfect standing there In your cute, little, oversized uniform And I know now, that I'm so down Every word you say is a work of art It feels like I’ve been hit by an arrow heart And I know now, that I'm so down (hey!) Hey, hey! Hey, hey, hey, hey Hey, hey I love your smile, oh your smile And the way you look at me, makes me go wild I want to see you again and that is why Malvolio chased you down the street With a shiny diamond ring that I told him you left with me even though you’re only a servant baby all I really want is you You look so perfect standing there to
In your cute, little, oversized uniform And I know now, that I'm so down I live for the day when you’ll return and when the Duke will finally leave me alone And I know now, that I'm so down Hey! Hey, hey! Hey, hey, hey, hey Hey, hey You looked so perfect standing there In your cute, little, oversized uniform And I know now, that I'm so down Every word you say is a work of art It feels like I’ve been hit by an arrow heart And I know now, that I'm so down Hey! Hey, hey! Hey, hey, hey, hey Hey, hey You looked so perfect standing there In your cute, little, oversized uniform And I know now, that I'm so down (hey) Every word you say is a work of art (hey, hey) It feels like I’ve been hit by an arrow heart (hey, hey) And I know now, that I’m so down (hey, hey) Act 2 Summary: These lyrics are a parody of the song “Together” sung by the cast of High School Musical and it fits into the “Twelfth Night” because it is about how Maria,Toby and Andrew have to work together in order to achieve their goal of making Malvolio seem like a fool in act two. It fits the play because with the rewritten lyrics we have made, it tells you from the characters perspective on how they will go through on their plan, showing the emotions the characters feel as this is happening. Together, together, together everyone Together, together, come on lets have some fun Together, together, take down Malvolio Together together come on lets do this right For too long he’s been shutting down our fun We’re not gonna take anymore (yeah yeah) He no longer can give us limitations We’re gonna party all night Malvolio is bossy all the day And then some more at night (more at night) He’s insane And we don’t mean in a good way Come on let’s take him down We're all in this together take him down write the letter make him fall for Oliviaaa We're all in this together And we’ll show to Olivia that he makes everyone feel blue Together, together, together everyone Together, together, come on lets have some fun Together, together, take down malvolio Together together come on lets do this right {Maria} When at first I started working here I got treated with respect (with respect) And Malvolio came, and turned things upside down it made me wanna scream and shout he started to treat me like his slave let’s end this once for all We're all in this together take him down write the letter make him fall for Oliviaaa We're all in this together And we’ll show to Olivia that he makes everyone feel blue We're all in this together Maria has a plan She will write the letter in Olivia’s hand We're all in this together we’ll make him wear yellow stockings and he’ll smile all day long Maria sing along Yeah, you really got it goin' on Aguecheek in the house Everybody say it now Malvolio will strutt around yellow stocking waving in the air That's the way we’ll do it Lets get to it That’ll show Malvolio We're all in this together Maria has a plan She will write the letter in Olivia’s hand We're all in this together we’ll make him wear yellow stockings and he’ll smile all day long We're all in this together take him down write the letter make him fall for Oliviaaa We're all in this together And we’ll show to Olivia that he makes everyone feel blue So that is the plan to take down Malvolio That's the way we do it Let's get to it Come on everyone! Act 2 Summary: These lyrics are a parody of the song “Someone Like You” by Adele, and fits in with “Twelfth Night” after Cesario rejects Olivia’s love in act three. The song follows the Countess’ thought process before, during, and mostly after, the big reveal of her secret love, but is told in past tense up to when Cesario tells Olivia he pities her, at which it switches to present. After the initial let down of being out of love, Olivia decides the only reason Cesario doesn’t love her back is because the boy is too afraid to love the Countess, due to the social improperness of their proposed relationship. Olivia believes this to be an obstacle she can overcome. I heard the Duke had hired a boy that he would send to woo me I heard that he came out of no where I didn't expect everything to turn out the way it did so the boy came to my court and I found I enjoyed his company He did his job and I did mine But there was always something there, I couldn't fight it I had hoped eventually that it would fade But it didn’t... And so I had to let it out, I couldn’t hold it I told him while we were walking through my garden I love you I said, but as it turns out, I was wrong he doesn’t love me back he just pities me instead he doesn’t love me back he just pities me instead Even though we couldn’t have been Due to our differences in rank we would have made it work for the sake of our love Me with my power and you with your wit If only I could talk to the dear boy one more time and maybe if I did, it would ease his mind Because somewhere in his head he must love me too or at least I hope so I never felt this way about anyone I just want to be by his side for eternity I pity you he said well thats a step towards love It might take but i’ll have myself wed I won’t give up now, yes I will be wed I made a mistake but I will learn from it I won’t wait around for his love no, I will make a stronger move when I see him next, I will not waiver my lips will meet his, this time i’ll be braver I don’t care who sees, I’m gonna wear my heart on my sleeve what follows I can take at least I was true myself I will profess to the world I love you Oh dear Cesario I love you Then everyone will see we were meant to be Our love will win this war, our ship name will be Olivrio Or maybe Cesaria will be the ship name instead Act 4 Summary: These lyrics are a parody of the song “Do You Want To Build A Snowman” by Kristen AndersonLopez and Robert Lopez and fits into act four of “The Twelfth Night”.It is written in Sebastian’s perspective before he discovers that Viola is still alive. It fits the play because it describes the confusion that Sebastian is going through at this time having accepted a wedding proposal from a countess that he has just met. In the song, it also goes over the fact that Sebastian isn't too pleased with the idea of getting married and not having his sister, who has been there for every milestone in his life, not be able to attend this one because she is “dead”. It outlines the fact that he still cannot believe this is reality. (Knocking: Knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock) Yes, this world is real... And I can see the sun I can feel the ground beneath my feet As I come out the door And what a beautiful day Yes I see those flowers And what a big tree And I see those gardeners But still I’m so confused? How can all this be real... She asked me to get married? I can’t believe the Countess wants to wed me I accepted it, But of course it feels surreal what kind of dream is this (Dream is thisss!) I’Il will be a Count, And Olivia will be my wife, And now all I have to do is watch the hours go by (TicTock, TicTock, TicTock, TicTock, TicTock) (Orchestral) But there’s only one more thing missing and it’s my sister viola They say "have courage", and I'm trying to And after every day I miss her more We only had each other It was just you and I And now you’re missing this happy day I’m getting married without you How can this be true? Act 5 Summary: These lyrics are a parody of the song “Happy” by Pharrell Williams, and fits in with “Twelfth Night” at the end of act five. The song outlines how a handful of characters, including orsino, Viola, Maria, Malvolio, and Antonio, and how they feel about the way the play has turned out for them personally. The song is narrated by Feste who is conducting the interviews and stays as an objective outsider and doesn’t reveal how he feels about the advancements in both orsino’s and Olivia’s court. {Feste} It might seem crazy what I'm about to say we have reached the end of the play Come on Orsino, give us the low down {Orsino} Well I finally am gonna have wife So I am happy And my wife is to be my right hand man Cesario So I'm happy I don’t have to spend a penny on the wedding So I’m happy And when cesario puts on his female clothes I will be happy {Feste} Thank you Orsino for your view on this topsyturvy tale And now we’re gonna hand it over to the bridetobe Viola, give me all you got, don't hold back {Viola} Thank you Feste I’ll be happy to And now I’m filled with joy, Here's why I'm happy Because I’m gonna wed my former boss, the great Duke Orsino So I’m happy I found my brother Sebastian, who I thought was lost at sea Now I'm happy At last I can be myself without a disguise So I'm happy Olivia and I are going to be sisters in law and so I’m very happy Can't nothing, bring me down Love is too high to bring me down {Feste} and now here I come with Maria on my arm So tell us, your view on everything, that’s been happening {Maria} Bro well since you asked I still have my position here at Olivia’s court so I'm happy I got married to Sir Toby Belch So I think I'm happy I got watch all of this go down, which brought some joy into my life Because I'm happy And I don’t have to deal with the Duke’s wooers at my lady’s front door So I'm happy {Feste} Now let’s hear from Malvolio and see if He is happy too {Malvolio} Well let me tell you now that I am definitely not I'm not happy After how I treated can you be surprised? I’m not happy It’s a disgrace that they are still within this court Not happy, very angry Oh if I, could get my hands on them I am so mad after all I do alright I’m done, back to you {Feste} (Because I'm happy) Well now that its back to me, your friendly court jester (Because I'm happy) We gotta find one more person to finish off the song (Because I'm happy) How about Antonio, he’s probably got something to say (Because I'm happy) Well I’m happy that Sebastian has himself sorted out yes I'm happy And I have my money back and soon will return to my boat Because I'm happy And Sebastian will be happily married So I’m happy No longer am I an enemy of the Duke’s court Because I'm happy Also Sebastian is happy so that makes me happy too.
